No, you need to download the books with Kindle for PC 2.8.0 to extract the keys with Sats tool. Or are you just speculating that a similar tool could be made to work with Kindle for Android?

No, they said they decrypted books downloaded with Kindle for Android. But the key extractor specifically uses Kindle for PC 2.8.0. So I'm pretty sure you cannot use it on anything that can't also be downloaded with Kindle for PC.

You can't use the key extractor for anything other then K4PC as it's written for Windows.

Yes, as I said, the key extractor specifically works with Kindle for PC 2.8.0. So while the key will apparently work on a book from Kindle for Android, you have to download a copy with Kindle for PC to get that key in the first place.

Is the original .bat file to prevent auto updates still valid? That works? Delete the two folders and create a dummy file?

It has worked for me with 2.7.1 so far too.

There is a separate Frida script that worked for Android (WSA) at one point (kindleFridaInstr.py), though it works... less well... for newest K4A. (one does not need the absolute newest K4A to get high-security books though). Unfortunately, the needed setup is too much of a pain to explain repeatedly, but boils down to "Install Frida on WSA, run script, open book". It works on the same principle as KeyExtractor but is written in python/js.

You know, I think instead of trying to make it impossible to de-DRM, it's been more effective to just make it a royal PITA to do so.

"Making it royal PITA to get key or plaintext" is both the point and modus operandi of all DRM schemes I am aware of. Some are better at it than others.

Hello.
Just a quick note that may save time to those who, like me, are not sufficiently proficient with computers to use anything but a step-by-step method : When I followed Jadehawk's excellent tutorial on techy-notes.com, I was stuck for a while because I did not have any Python managing software installed on my PC ; donwloading one de-stuck me and now it works perfectly. So I suggested he should add this instruction early on in the process for those who would happen to share that same technical deficit I have, but meanwhile, such non-technical-oriented users should be aware that this has to be done in order for his Keyfinder software to work ! |

That's why I hadn't bothered with Jadehawk's script. I didn't feel like installing Python just for that. Easy enough to use Satsuoni's tool on its own if needed. Jadehawk's tutorial is still helpful for walking you through that.
