Dan Brown: Origin

The latest/very recent, Robert Langdon book from Dan Brown, Origin, is going at 1.05$ in the US.
I just got it in India for just 68 Rs.

I purchased the hardbound version earlier, but this would be a backup just in case.
Seems like a bargain, but I have not started reading the book yet.

The Bride Box is the 17th in the Michael Pearce's Mamur Zapt series, about which I raved a few posts above. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US (coupon/VIPable). I do think this is a series that benefits a little from reading in rough order, although I don't think you have to read in strict sequence (I didn't and still fell in love with it). And sadly the titles that have gone on sale recently have been from later in the series. Earlier titles have a different publisher, who just recently allowed them to be made into e-books (good) but which are pretty expensive (bad). Anyway, here's info on Box:

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Bride-Box-mys...dp/B00DN8GOW4/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/search?Query=the+bride+box

Spoiler:
Quote:
The gift of a traditional Bride Box leads Mamur Zapt into a complex and intriuging investigation

Cairo, 1912. The Pasha receives an unexpected gift: a traditional Bride Box. When opened, however, the box contains an unwelcome jolt from the past . . . At the same time, a little girl is discovered riding under a train from Luxor - and the Mamur Zapt, Head of the Khedive's Secret Police, is called in to investigate.

He soon finds himself confronting a political storm as the end of British rule approaches and his investigations uncover a tangled web of family loyalties and betrayals, with its roots in a slave trade long supposed to have been stamped out in Egypt.

Introducing Agatha Raisin contains, as you might expect, the first two titles in the Agatha Raisin series by MC Beaton: The Quiche of Death and The Vicious Vet. It has dropped to $2.99 at Kindle and Kobo US, while the individual titles remain at $7.99. This omnibus has been on sale before, so check carefully before you buy.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Introducing-A...dp/B004UND99W/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/int...-agatha-raisin

Spoiler:
Quote:
Beloved author M. C. Beaton has delighted readers and fans alike with her Agatha Raisin mysteries. The Quiche of Death and The Vicious Vet, the first two books in the series, are now together for the first time in one volume. . . .

The Quiche of Death
Putting all her eggs in one basket, Agatha Raisin gives up her successful PR firm, sells her London flat, and samples a taste of early retirement in the quiet village of Carsely. Bored, lonely, and used to getting her way, she enters a local baking contest. Despite the fact that Agatha has never baked a thing in her life, she is sure the pie she has secretly bought from an upper-crust London quicherie will make her the toast of the town. But her recipe for social advancement sours when the judge not only snubs her entry—but falls over dead!

The Vicious Vet
Agatha Raisin hasn't quite adjusted to the slow pace of village life, or to the failure of her overtures to her handsome neighbor, James Lacey. Since the new vet in town is young and good looking, Agatha's perfectly healthy tabby endures a nasty physical exam in the name of romance. Unfortunately, his sacrifice is all for naught when the vet is soon found dead. The police call the death a freak accident, but Agatha convinces James that playing amateur detective might be fun. Unfortunately, just as curiosity killed the cat, Agatha's inept snooping is soon a motivation for murder. . . .

Cross-post to the Omnibus thread for a pretty good deal on a box set of all five Good Thief's Guide series titles by Chris Ewan in at least the UK (£7.99) and Taiwan (305 TND/approx US $10, but also couponable to 183 TND/approx US $6 with the current 40% coupon there).

Ran Away is the 11th in the Benjamin January series by Barbara Hambly, who is perhaps better known for her science fiction/fantasy than for her mysteries. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US (coupon/VIPable).

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Away-Benjamin...dp/B007BEFTLS/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/ran-away

Spoiler:
Quote:
A Benjamin January mystery - RAN AWAY. So began a score of advertisements every week in the New Orleans newspapers, advertising for slaves who'd fled their masters. But the Turk, Huseyin Pasha, posted no such advertisement when his two lovely concubines disappeared. And when a witness proclaimed he'd seen the 'devilish infidel' hurl their dead bodies out of a window, everyone was willing to believe him the murderer. Only Benjamin January, who knows the Turk of old, is willing to seek for the true culprit, endangering his own life in the process . . .

Murder Uncorked is the first in the Wine Lover's series by by Michele Scott. It is free right now at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Murder-Uncork...dp/B019ARFW42/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/murder-uncorked-2

Spoiler:
Quote:
Nikki Sands was like every other aspiring actress—waiting tables between jobs. But Nikki had taken serving wines to heart. She knew enough to impress Napa Valley’s golden boy, Derek Malveaux, who offered her a job at his vineyard. And though Nikki may have left her dreams of stardom behind, the world of wine is ripe with intrigue—and the seeds of sleuthing are planted…

Nikki has just set foot on Napa Valley’s rich soil when she realizes her new job may not be as safe as she thought. First off, Derek Malveaux is disconcertingly sexy. Second, his top winemaker is dead in the bushes outside Nikki’s cottage. It doesn’t take a connoisseur of foul play to know something’s taken a terrible turn…

And if you like this one, the fourth and sixth in the series are only $0.99:

A Vintage Murder, #4, not on sale at Kobo US
Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Murde...dp/B019HJMH5K/

A Toast to Murder, #6
Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Toast-Murder-...dp/B019HJ34PW/
Kobo US (coupon/VIPable): https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/a-toast-to-murder-2

And finally, not sure if we count "CreateSpace" as a non-self-publisher ???, but SYKM seems to, and I'll go with SYKM for now. In which case, it's worth noting that a box set of all three titles in Scott's Michaela Bancroft series (Saddled with Trouble, Death Reins In, Tacked to Death) is a US Kindle Countdown deal at $0.99 for about 5 3/4 more days.
