Skipped breakfast, so the last thing I ate was Sunday dinner.

Meat and potato pie, roast potatoes, roast onion, string beans, mangetout, baby sweetcorn, Brussels sprouts, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

I've had my usual portion of rice plus soy chutney, chayote, yellow lentils and pickled yam (cubed instead of grated).

*Does anyone else remember that great Two Ronnies sketch where a customer tries to buy an ice-cream cone, but asks for salt & vinegar, cheese & onion, or smokey bacon flavour ice-cream, none of which, of course, are available. Eventually he gives up and asks to have a packet of flavoured crisps instead:

It's a little like scrapple, made with pork liver and head parts mixed with cornmeal. I never heard of it before moving to North Carolina. I only tried it at the insistence of a friend. The liver flavor is not as pronounced as I thought it would be. I didn't hate it.

Today, I'm snacking on muscadines in honor of the first day of fall.
