Has anyone book a book using the $10 Visa checkout balance on their account?
I managed to purchase a book and it was under the $10 amount no problem. I now have a 28cent balance and no matter what method of payment I chose to my a book I get the oops something went wrong message - like for the past 1/2 hour. I've tried to pay by Visa Checkout, set up a new Visa checkout using a different email address and 2nd cc#, tried entering my CC and paying that way and even tried my sister's CC # thinking it might be just mine (even though I used the Visa Checkout on a 2nd Kobo account earlier tonight on a book to get the $10 promo on that account).
So frustrating. I've emailed Kobo help waiting for reply. Just wondering if anyone else was having an issue

I'm just THRILLED they actually have coupons and am grateful to be able to get some of the books at a discount. It may not be flawless, but it beats the alternative of having no coupons. When it comes to disappearing books, I agree, that is a different story. You paid for the product, you need to be able to access it at all times without having to squeeze through a phone line and shake the person on the other end.
Oh, I've toured multi-million dollar companies and distributors with worse computer support than you can imagine. And they do their CS in-house, which is where the limited hours (and long return times) often come from. I think we just all expect better from a "modern" online only store that deals in digital product (the instant gratification crowd wants our books and our support NOW!).

And they are not the only bookstore that lets your books disappear. They are one of the few that tries to get them back for you (if you paid for them), in fact. Amazon stands alone in guaranteeing that the book stays in your library until YOU delete it (and I'm surprised the publishers keep agreeing to it, but it's now a given that if you want in the Amazon store, you must agree to that provision; in other stores, the publisher can pull books off your shelves when they remove access for that store to sell the titles).

Unless Kobo has changed, though, their treatment of free titles is abysmal. If you read and delete from the app (or a device), it removed the title from your library (permanent delete, not "trash" or "archive). And their CS would tell you that you could buy it again if you wanted to read it again. Or read it the first time, if you deleted by accident. As a result, I sold off all my Kobo readers and deleted the APP from all my devices. I no longer use their software, so am insulated against loss from that front.

I have run into books that have nothing at the Kobo end behind the sales page; sometimes they fix it, sometimes they don't (as you say, at least they do refunds, even if it is weeks later).

In the meantime, they keep making choices that make it more difficult to shop there - you can't buy gift cards online and I can't get most of my credit cards to work there, since the purchase gets flagged as out of country (that and the small amounts both raise fraud alert flags on the accounts, often getting the account completely frozen until I call in and fix them).

Hi!

I have tried going through the previous posts to see if this problem was mentioned before but didn't find anything so I'm sorry if it was brought up earlier. Has anyone had the "buy now" button go missing. Trying to use my one measly 75% code to buy a few books but I get the "add to cart" button only. Help!!!

I just checked and when I open Kobo web page in Firefox I can only see "add to cart" button, bu when I open it in the Chrome and Internet Explorer both buttons are there.

Maybe this is only problem if you are using Firefox?

That is strange. Did you try using another browser? Is it same in another browser or just Chrome?

For me it is just Firefox. The other are OK.

Well, DNS cache. Basically something in your PC that resolves a domain name to an IP address. If you're on Windows, just type ipconfig /flushdns in Command. (Google for others.)

So I take it you can't see the Buy Now button even when you're logged out. Most likely a network issue (or, at least, how it interacts with Kobo). You might have to cycle your router/network adapter or obtain a new IP address. If it still doesn't resolve this problem, it's Kobo CS for you, I suppose.

Speaking of glitches: A few days ago, the Paypal option disappeared from my checkout. Cue buckets of sweat, right? An hour later, just when I was about to give up and ask the thread, it was there again. I think it was resetting my router that finally worked.

Could it be being blocked by an add-in? Ad-Block Plus? Ghostery? JavaScript blocker? I always have to allow B&N a tracking JavaScript before the "Buy" button works on that site (I think it's "google analytics" I have to allow, but it's been awhile, and I don't remember).
