Initially, yes, but once the preliminary setup, indexing, etc. are finished it does get better. I didn't keep mine long enough to compare realistically, but I always keep my wifi on, etc. so really hard to know. It's really going to depend on whether you're a person who keeps wifi off, or has a 3G model, reads a lot, etc.

Now I feel really bad for the people who have given up on the Voyage or are having trouble getting a good one. Keep trying-it is SO worth it.
I love everything about it-the PagePress, the screen, the lighting, the size. It's *perfect*! I did buy the Origami cover when I ordered my Kindle, even though I knew I would hate it-I needed something to protect my Kindle until I found a cover I like better. I was right-I do hate the Origami. I just bought the Omoton cover for the Voyage and I love it. It is just like my official Amazon Paperwhite cover-auto sleep/wake function, cut out for the power button, fits perfectly and my Voyage is well protected-and it is so much cheaper. Obviously it's not real leather, but it's good material and very worth the price. |

I carried my Voyage around in the original box until my cover (OMOTON) came. It was still lighter than my K3.
![]() I also find having a cover is helping me bond with it. Very odd... |

4Katz - actually I don't think that is strange at all.
I remember how great the PW2 was in its amazon case. I've moaned at amazon about this, if the device is so small that it becomes easy/desirable to carry it around, then, if you are going to bung it in a bag, a case is needed. That being so, the design of the case is as imp as the design of the device - I feel. Once you've decided you aren't going to read it 'naked' (is there no better way of saying that?!) then the whole 'case thing' gets really important. Unless you go in the 'sleeve' direction. if I slept alone and didn't have to worry about the side flap of the cover screening my husband while he drops off, I'd go 'sleeve'. |

I am still hoping that next year, when they sort the light issues out, they may actually bring out a decent case that fits this years model as well. They should have designed two if they wanted the origami. Instead they let Incipio and Belikin produce useless cases without auto sleep/wake and left us to the mercy of third party cases which while cheap and nice looking won't have the long lasting element of the previous official kindle cases.

I must have missed what is wrong with the origami case? I quite like it.
