Sorry for shouting - but it's the first time in over a week that temps have climbed out of the 30's F. Yes, I know it's February -- but I live in the south.

It's currently 42°F and heading toward a daytime high of 52°. No precipitation of any kind is in the forecast, so it looks as if I'll get to take a walk outside for the first time in around a week. This morning my daughter and I were on her first walk of the day—seven laps around the ward representing 2/3 of a mile—and on the sixth lap a group of doctors were blocking the aisle and turned so they couldn't see us. Just as we got near to where they were standing, the computerized pump alarm on my daughter's IV pole started beeping and they moved out of the way. We both started laughing at the remarkable timing of the machine. I told her I was going to have to get one of those, as it would come in very handy while walking through department and grocery stores.

I've got in the habit this winter of wearing two fleeces most of the time.

Of course what sucks is that I do a lot of community support driving, and the early shift when the vehicles have been sitting overnight outdoors is shall we say BRISK.

Finally - a nice day to be outside - temps soared into the 50's F -- I spent the afternoon doing yard work: cracking the ice shield off the front steps (shaded by pine trees), raking out the pile of leaves blown under the front porch by the various gale force storms we've had, picking up all the branches blown down by storms, clearing debris off the driveway & sidewalks, etc. I got more done in one afternoon than has been possible in over 2 months. And a nice after dinner walk ...

Cold temps & wintry mixes return tomorrow ... sigh ...

Off to a boiling hot shower and my recliner - I've earned it.

Temps got from the low 40s (here) to the high 30s (my son's place). Despite about 6 inches of new snow last night and piles of snow by the sides of the road, it was a pretty good day for a long drive.

I got back at 10 PM and it was just about freezing. It's supposed to get much colder tonight and keep getting colder through the day, so it was the right time to (drum roll, please) shovel the driveway!

After one day of seasonally normal temps, back into the freezer ... with more snow ... 2 systems to move through this week -- one tomorrow & then again on Thursday ...

Well, today's storm system has 'developed stronger than expected' so that my expected dusting is now about 1/2" and accumulating ..... sigh ...
