What about snow plows & municipal/state road crews you ask?
They stay on the interstates, and do not venture into neighborhoods.
Result = main routes are squeaky clear, but you can't get to them without risking your life.

Funny that... I was good out in suburban Charlotte this morning, but the closer I got into uptown with all the skyscrapers, the worse the roads got. I think the crews sort of called it in today since temps got to 40 and would melt it all by 3pm. Didn't hurt that public school was cancelled.

Of course, we are do to drop down to 6 degrees F tonight. It has dropped 10 degrees in the last 2 hours.

It was snowing in the morning and though it's stopped, it's really really cold here.

Cold. Oh yeah. I woke up to 14° F with a wind chill that made it feel like 1. We're currently at the high for the day: 20° Fahrenheit.

Hmmmm .... high of 19 F, with wind chill of 0 F or lower [I went out to start the cars -- it WAS cold], plunging to at least 6 F or lower tonight .... with gusty winds .... sigh ....

Cold today. Tomorrow we start with snow, then sleet, freezing rain, and maybe some plain old rain.

Sunday looks like a nicer day, weather-wise. I'll be on the road, so that'll be good.

Monday, I'll try to clear the driveway again. We should see temperatures rising to a balmy 17° (F).

We're having a heat wave! A tropical heat wave!

It was 28 F this morning - the warmest it's been in 5 days!

The weather system on its way to clobber cromag will brush us this morning - flurries & showers, but no accumulation.

We're currently at 30° Fahrenheit in Richmond; not too far away from our predicted high for the day of 35. That's much better than the 10 degrees we were experiencing when I awoke at 8:10 this morning. We may see some more snow today, but it's not guaranteed. Tomorrow should be considerably warmer but rainy. The predicted high is 49°. That's been steadily revised downward, as a week ago the high for tomorrow was predicted to be 62°.

Yeah, snowing here, too. We're supposed to get up to 3 inches before it ices over with freezing rain. Despite everything, the roads should be okay for driving tomorrow.
