Yes, the one I purchased also said the battery had been replaced. Since it only cost about 5 dollars more than some of the other ones listed, I did feel it was worth it.

I've gotten this to work with dozens of books but I got this message with one specific book that was released today. When I copy the file into calibre, instead of the normal .kfx format, it shows as .azw format so that may have something to do with it. I can read the book just fine in Kindle 4 PC 2.8.0 (70980) so it's not a corrupted file.

Has anyone else gotten this error when running the script?

Code:
BookOpen error 14 Missing magic bytes
Invalid book format, maybe KF8/MOBI?

I did think I would have to manually update the firmware, but to my surprise when I got it, it was already updated to the latest firmware for the Kindle Touch. So I didn't have to mess with that. It did take me a couple of tries to register it, because the first time, Amazon didn't send the email with the one time password to my email. I tried again and they sent it. Then I just entered the one time password they sent instead of my real password in the Kindle and voilà, it was registered to me. I can access the store (although it's so slow I'll stick to just buying my books on the website) and download all my past purchases.
Well done. Now you can download Kindle eBooks and remove the DRM.

... It means that is not a KFX book, probably KF8. Or KF7. Older DeDRM methods should work on it, if you import your DSN/secrets into Calibre. That is what k4i file should be for (which is only generated properly if you do have KFX files in the library).

Regarding buying older Kindles; I have bought a lot of Kindle 3 (Keyboard) models and a couple of Kindle Oasis 10th gen models on Ebay.co.uk and I have never encountered an issue with any of them being blacklisted, and I have always been able to register them to my account. Maybe I'm just lucky. It is necessary be a little careful regarding WiFi. Really old Kindles like the K3 are WiFi4, although it wasn't called WiFi4 when they were new, and some of the newest WiFi7 routers have trouble with that. I keep an older router connected as a downstream device from my new router just to cope with older devices.

The book was just released today. It is my understanding that no book published nowadays would work with the old DeDRM ways.

Just to double check, I tried downloading it with the KindleForPC 2.4.70904 but got the expected need to update error.
