What Are You Watching

I didn't realize that the Sci-Fi Channel's (apparently, who can keep track of which whatever produces what show today?) "Surreal Estate" apparently somehow managed to eke out a second season, which I admit surprised me.

I stumbled across it yesterday and we binged S1 again, because I believe that we may have found/watched this show right after I was diagnosed with the dreaded Shingles, on the damned bedrest. For the life of me, while I somewhat remember this or that, I have big blanks where some of the shows are, and...that really doesn't typically happen to me. It's an odd thing; it's not like I'm all that engrossed or the like, in pretty much any show, (or movie, etc.) but I can usually remember the plotline and elements of almost anything that's ever run past my eyeballs. I can only assume all these plot holes in my head are the result of those pills that they gave me back last January-March. Yowzers.

It's on Hulu, as part of the subscription. It came on to SF in...I THINK (?) 2021 and I guess S2 just showed here in 2023, starting in October. and thence near-immediately to Hulu, (of course).

It's an odd little show. Supernatural/paranormal alternate universe stuff, guy owns a Real Estate Agency and he specializes in clearing/selling houses that have ghostly issues. Ghosts, demons, whatever. The guy that was Doc Holliday in Wynonna Earp stars, along with some folks that are the usual mixed bag of talent and all that.

Anyway...do I ADORE it? No. Do I hate it? no. It happily remains away from most of the things that will instantly and immediately make me turn off a show so...

My sister and I are watching the first season of Our Flag Means Death and we're loving it. Only two more episodes to go, but I think we'll go straight on to season two.

Yes. Your description struck me as being much like many pot boilers I've read. Not bad but not a book you are going to pick up again.

In a desperate attempt to appear on topic, I'm currently watching some of the biggest money loser movies which a friend of mine suggested as a group thing. I made it through Mortal Engines and am working on Terminator: Dark Fate with Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets as the next up. I'm not sure where James generated his list from but so far I can see why the first two movies ran out of red ink for their balance sheets.

There are some books that yes, I'll re-read. In the genre fiction category, they are sort of few/far between...Christie and that ilk, mostly. So...would I read it AGAIN...hmmmm...

I suspect not but I'm not sure I'd have some internally bad taste in my mouth, about it, having read it the first time. It's odd that I'm so...in-betweeny about it, lol.

Fr. Brown S10 was disappointing. Thought at first the new sidekicks might be OK but they went downhill fast, even somewhat spoiling the otherwise excellent IMO Flambeau episode.PLEASE bring back Mrs. M & Lady F!

I bit on the Thanksgiving Hulu special and also got Disney+. I watch a lot of network and cable because we pay for that and I've never paid for streaming before. I figured $3 a month for a year is worth it.

So, I'm working my way through Only Murders In The Building on Hulu. Just finished up season 2. Enjoying it! No idea what else I'll move onto except catching up on my Disney movies.

Yeah...in fact, I believe I didn't even finish S10. It's bad enough that they nuked Lady Montague (aka "Lady Felicia"), but then they got rid of the housekeeper. It's a bit hard to know where they think they're going, or what audience they're targeting, with some of the movies that they make.

Star Trek: The Alternative Factor

I... couldn't even follow along with the plot to this one. I guess there's another universe made of antimatter? There's an attempt to explain it towards the end, but it just made me even more confused.

There was also all the weird weird weird scenes involving nebulas and slow-motion shots with inverted colours. Well, it was the 60s.

I think I'll call this episode "The One Where Lieutenant Masters Has a Very Bad Day." First she has to put up with crap coffee:

Later on, the hobo the Enterprise crew rescued from the planet attacks her in order to steal a dilithium crystal. (He also does this while she's on the intercom with Captain Kirk, resulting in his immediate capture. I'm not sure what he was expecting to happen.)

Later on, she's working on some equipment when it shorts out and all the magic smoke escapes. (Because circuit breakers apparently went out of style by the 23rd century.)

Started a rewatch of "The Good Place". A nice and twee 20 minute bitesized treat.

The rest of The Crown episodes dropped this week. I watched one just now (about William). I think it was E6. Netflix.

Friday night I watched Barbie on Max. It made me laugh a lot during the first part, about 20 minutes.
