Maybe even more significantly, this Harold Robbins ebook (888 pages) and audiobook (25 1/2 hours) are very long, giving this deal an enormous bang for the buck and punch for the pound!

Comments: This book is currently the #2 seller in the Kindle store in the Suspense > Political category.
Book Description (Amazon):
From the author of The New York Times #1 best-selling novel The Carpetbaggers comes a tale of violence, sex, betrayal, revenge and intrigue. The Adventurers is a story of revolution and danger in the sultry jungles of South America.

As a young boy, Diogenes Alejandro Xenos (“Dax”) witnesses the brutal rape and murder of his mother and sister by government troops—experiencing the drama of revolution, loss, and tragedy firsthand. He is sent to Europe by the victorious rebel leader to rebuild his country’s diplomatic and financial status post-revolution, and is immediately thrown into the elite environment of Europe’s jet set society of international bankers and diplomats.

Outwardly, Dax lives a life of privilege as one of the continent’s most sought-after, hedonistic playboys—wanted by men and women alike, but for very different reasons. Inside, however, he channels his fear, anger and hatred for the new regime, which he realizes is as corrupt as the old, into a desire to disrupt the status quo. Once a favorite of the general-turned-dictator, Dax quickly becomes an outlaw in his own country, living on the fringes of society as a rebel hell-bent on a new revolution.

This epic tale of escape from the horrors of a third world regime is one of Harold Robbins' most ambitious novels ever, combining his trademark sensuality with political intrigue, a globe-spanning variety of exotic locales, and themes that never seem to change—political intrigue, greed, power, money, violence, sex and betrayal.

With Dax Xenos, Robbins thrills and excites us with one of his most memorable and intriguing characters—a flawed and complicated hero.

The Adventurers was one of Robbins’ most successful novels, spending 41 weeks on The New York Times best sellers list. Today, this novel easily proves that Robbins’ compelling prose still has the power to surprise, titillate, and move readers.

Yes, they do. Also very difficult to get a refund, if you find you can't use their app (and don't have a nook tablet). But, it can be done.

Please don't ask me to act surprised. We are talking about B&N here, after all. ha

Well, that's a deal-breaker. The audiobook is only $6.95 at Audible. The book is highly rated at Amazon, and what I consider to be very highly rated at GoodReads. So, I've put it on my wishlist at Audible. It's worth $3 to me not to have the B&N hassle.

I know exactly what you mean and have passed on a few there too, for the same reason.

It's only $3.99 via Whispersync if you own or borrow the $9.99 ebook. That ebook is available in OverDrive; so if your library has it, check it out and then buy the audiobook for $3.99.

No problem.

I get the distinct impression that the number of MobileRead members (i.e., those who have the ability to post) who check MobileRead and/or the amount of time that MobileRead members devote to checking MobileRead has decreased markedly in the last month or so. Is it the warmer (in the northern hemisphere) weather, causing people to be outside and/or travel more? Something else diverting the attention of peeps? I dunno. Of course, my perception could be wrong, too.

You know, as much as I post Whispersync deals, I didn't think about that. But I think that I would have caught the oversight before I actually bought it. Thanks for the reminder.

If I can get it for $3.99, I might go ahead and pull the trigger. But, I've already got a huge backlog of audiobooks that I haven't listened to! Too, my audiobook budget is still trying to recover from the current Audible Lounge-thingie sale. ha

Woohoo! One of the two libraries where I have borrowing privileges has it. It's borrowed by someone else right now, but I've placed a hold on it. Thanks, tubemonkey. If you're ever in town, I'll buy you a banana milkshake or banana Popsicle or something.

If you look just above the publisher's summary in these offers, I always post the Whispersync pricing if it's available. If there is no Whispersync deal for that offer, I'll say so.

Personally, I don't like Nook and will never buy anything from them. I do have a couple of free audiobooks I got from them when they launched their audiobook app.

Also, it seems like the several deal threads are being updated so frequenty, it's easy to miss something among all the new posts.

A frozen banana on a stick, coated in chocolate, sometimes with nuts, is one of my favorite things in the world.

I don't care much for bananas, myself. But I like a banana nut muffin or piece of banana nut bread for breakfast occasionally. BTW--if you can find them, I recommend Little Debbie banana nut muffins. They're excellent. They're hard to find around here, though.
