Very interesting looking. I once found a spider that was striped with millimeter-thin stripes in yellow and orange-brown - 2½-3 cm I think. Very pretty.

Pooh! Don't be afraid. They are cute creatures. You do not have to like them like some of us do, but stay cool. Maybe help yourself with a little G&T? Tanqueray?

Poohbear_nc, writing spiders are cool. As a kid, I used to catch them and let the crawl all over me until I was covered in webbing. I looked like Peter Parker after a drinking binge. I've never known one to bite.

I know this kind of spider, or one very like it. They can be very big and tend to build their webs in very visible places (well, maybe it's only the ones I can see :rolleyes) and sometimes in groups.

Clerodendrum trichotomum is with white flowers out. Just started the kast few days. The perfume is inebriating.

They are two, I twined them together when they were little. The trunks melted in one, twisting around each other. Birds just love it in winter.
Now it keeps the yard in shadow and in winter all the sun come in.

Geez - I clicked on the photobucket link and had a minor cardiac event!

She's not really an orb web weaver - she hangs vertical laddered drop lines - when a bug (or person) brushes a trip line, she drops, bites, and retreats - waiting until the bug dies or the person runs away.

The flower of clerodendron. In september goes to fruit: a blue berry that birds love. It is an interesting tree. It comes from Ceylon, where it is known as tree of destiny: either it protects or it endangers. Very wise. Typical. I feel protected.
