I am running Linux and updated to 2.34.0 have no problems importing a book from my kindle using "Add books to library".

OK, sorry for the ambiguity in my original post: what I meant with "broke the import function" is that before the update to v2.34.0 of the KFX Input plugin the import from Kindle (including DeDRM) worked just fine. Unfortunately I don't remember which version of the plugin was I running previously - I didn't checked, but I usually update Calibre and all plugins as soon as updates are available.
I'm running Calibre 9.13 with DeDRM plugin v10.0.3, on Linux Mint 22.3, Cinnamon 6.6.9, Kernel 7.0.0.30-generic and my Kindle is Paperwhite 10th generation, Firmware 5.18.1.1.1 not jailbroken and no MTP.

Your Paperwhite now has the hardened DRM and you will not be able to remove DRM. Currently, the easiest way forward is to jailbreak your PW4 (10th gen) and revert back to firmware 5.18.1.

You can obtain the 5.18.1 update .bin file from: https://s3.amazonaws.com/firmwaredownloads/update_kindle_all_new_paperwhite_v2_5.18.1.bin.

@DNSB: Thanks, I'll try that, though I'm still puzzled by the fact that the Kindle firmware update came in June this year and I was still able to import & deDRM KFX files. Any ideas?

Same here. It worked 2 days ago, but not today. Calibre 9.13. /Win11, DeDRM 10.0.09, KFX Input 2.34.
I guess, Amazon made some changes ?

Amazon has been actively hardening their DRM lately to the point where the old "just import it into calibre and DRM will automatically be removed" methods mostly no longer work.

Alternatives that require either a jailbroken Kindle or Windows 11 are available. See the first post in the thread Dealing with Kindle ebooks in calibre for the latest information.

Fix problems with the conversion of KFX dictionaries. Headwords should now be properly identified and inflections generated when possible. (Some KFX dictionaries are missing the rules needed to produce inflections.)
