This is a book I have intended to reread for a long time.
Unfortunately the link is to a very expensive paperback. Here is a link to a kindle book with the same translators.
But thank you for the post anyway, it made me find the kindle version.

BE CAREFUL: That Kindle edition may not be the same one as the hardback shown to the right of the Kindle edition. Or it may be a badly formatted edition of the Pevear translation.

Paragraphs are split all over the place in the Preface, and at least one reviewer notes what I mention above. The cover, as well, is not encouraging.

I opened it in my app. It’s the Penguin Classics edition. Pevear and Volokhonsy. I attached a screen cap of the first page.

I think that cover is used because it was a special edition for the Oprah Book Club. I’ve seen that cover in bookstores.

With classics, the reviews of one edition often end up attached to multiple editions, which is annoying.

I am unfortunately not directed to this book. Well it is quite often that I, being from Denmark, is directed to something else. It also quite often happens that a link that is clearly to Amazon US is redirected to Amazon UK, where I can't buy ebooks.

I bought the book that I linked to. The formatting as such seems to be okay, but there is no partitioning in chapters, it is one large chapter. Something that really is irritating me. And for some reason the conversion to EPUB took around 20 minutes.

Calibre has an automatic TOC generator. It did the trick :-)

As I stated in my post #1249 above, Amazon currently has two listed on their site, both for $2, both supposedly translated by them. One is Penguin, and the other...it is not clear from the sample who it is from. Because the person from Denmark can't get the Penguin one, they bought the other one.

Yes, the post was very clearly understood.

Both books claim to be the same Pevear and Volokhonsky translation (there is only one). So, again, if it's translated by Pevear and Volokhonsky, it's either licensed by Penguin, illegal or false advertising.

Well the book opens with the screen shot below. Just after the cover. (I also changed that, the original was IMO awful)

The book also contains a Translators' note and comments about the translators.
I do believe that the book is legal and probably licensed by Penguin.
After adding the TOC via Calibre the formatting is good.

There was a discussion somewhere on here about translators getting equal credit on a book cover with the author. It's not really a thing here in the US to follow a translator, but I guess it is in some places.

Anyway, if there were to be 'superstar' translators of books to English, Pevear and Volokhonsky would be it (for Russian works anyway). Their spate of translations has brought new attention to several old books. I have their editions of War and Peace, Doctor Zhivago, The Brothers Karamazov and now Anna Karenina.
