Oh, yes, I forgot to mention: The National Weather Service has now officially stated that a tornado did indeed hit the oceanfront in Virginia Beach a couple of days ago.

Outside the window it looks pretty calm. Not too hot today.

Beautiful day, today. Warm, but low humidity. Unfortunately, I spent most of it in the car, driving.

Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter and more humid.

"Polar Vortex" inspired storms due on Tuesday and Wednesday. Yippee.

I use my iPad indoors during storms because it's much less likely to be damaged by power surges.

A tornado in the southern suburbs killed two people today. That doesn't happen much around here. Sad.

I'm sorry to hear that, meeera. It does put my weather gripes in perspective.

It's hot today, but not quite as hot as yesterday. The first of the "polar vortex" inspired lines of thunderstorms should arrive tonight, but despite their origin, they're expected to be dumping warm water.

HOT - It's 90 F with equal humidity levels at 7:30 pm - had to cut my walk short tonight.

Our polar vortex storms roll in tomorrow.

Possible tornado touchdown just south of us (we don't get many of those in NJ, but sometimes they come up the Delaware river valley). For us, though, the storms were less windy than last night. But the near continuous lightning was pretty impressive.

We should have another go-round tomorrow.

Severe storms last night (no tornadoes .... yet) - LOTS of lightning & torrential rain ... this morning was like stepping into a sauna - my glasses fogged up walking to the car .... more storms roll in this afternoon - predicted to be severe with downbursts/straight line winds, lightning, and local flooding - just in time for evening drive home ....

[Goldie cat will spend the entire day under the bed!]

We hit 100 down here yesterday too. It is currently 85 and we are waiting on storms. You could swim in the humidity outside right now.

We're awaiting "possibly severe" thunderstorms this afternoon. Scratch that. I'm expecting MAJOR thunderstorms this afternoon. I believe that so-called ”titanium plate” the surgeon placed in my skull in May was in reality a barometer. My head is hurting like crazy, and I haven't been able to get any sleep since yesterday.
