Naturally, I wasn't talking about evidence that will stand in court. It's just that a detective gathering everyone around for a final showdown may not have all the facts exactly straight, but can still play it by ear by watching the reactions. So if I was Lobster, I'd go in there with half a mind that it was nekokami, but keeping my eye on MTH and a few others too, and I would see how things unfolded. Which is more or less what Lobster actually did. But he, or at least we, didn't have enough info before that to be sure about the identity of the killer, all we could have is a hunch. That's what I meant by lack of evidence.

In case it sounds like I'm complaining, I'm definitely not. I had great fun with the contest and the discussion here, and I don't much care that I got it wrong. In a parallel universe it can still be nekokami (no offence, nekokami, by the way, it's nothing personal!).

So a to all involved in preparing another fun contest, and once more good luck to all eligible to win!

Many American detectives are famous for making guesses at the climax that turn out wrong, and looking terribly confused, until the real culprit does something stupid to give themselves away (like the classic panicking and pulling a gun on the crowd in order to escape, resulting in the American Quick-Draw, the chase or the all-out fight to subdue the bad guy). Often, at that point, the detective finally sees the significance of the final clue ("Of course! He's the one who wears two left socks!") to cement the capture.

God, I miss those shows. They were hilarious!

(Various detective show themes running through my head now...)

No... Columbo looks confused from beginning to the end!

I was thinking along the lines of Magnum, PI... Simon and Simon... Moonlighting... Remington Steele...

I am enjoying the current TV show called "Castle" with a detective story author accompanying a police detective and solving murders. I don't know if Castle's books are available as eBooks.

I still remember where I was when I saw my first Columbo. My cousin and I were watching it at my aunt's house and wondering how anyone could be so stupid. Then came the moment of unveiling and we were blown away by his brilliance. We were fans from that moment on.

Peter Falk's present condition is really sad. So many wonderful people are falling victim to that awful disease.

Heat Wave is available in ebook form. I checked it out from my library, but didn't end up reading it. I enjoy the show too, but for some reason couldn't get into the book. Although my main reason for being interested in the show is I'm a die hard Firefly/Serenity fan. But after watching a few shows I began to enjoy the show for its own merit, rather than just to see Captain Reynolds.

My fanlove of Nathon Fillion is pretty much the only reason I decided to check out the show as well. I'm glad I did.
