I'm a ListenerLighter (or whatever they call us now). A webpage with a big banner ad for the sale appears for me. I show "0 credits." The product pages also appear, with the purchase option showing. If I remember correctly, and someone's post above seems to confirm it, we were locked out, previously, from even viewing the selection.

I wonder if Audible has changed strategies. In fact, I've wondered before why they didn't do this a long time ago before. If they showed to non-credit members, and non-members, what they could have access to, if only they were credit members, it might cause them to become credit members. In fact, I liked some of the courses so much that I toyed, just now, with the idea of upgrading myself. But I literally have a backlog of at least 50 courses from The Great Courses (a ringing endorsement of the quality that I think that they are--I have seen no other companies that even come close) that I haven't gotten to listening to yet.

I found out that the name of our plan now is "Inactive Light." You're not a member of any kind, including being even an InactiveLighter?

I think that if you downgrade to Inactive Light from a credit plan that you get to keep the credits that you have, and can use them, but you can't buy any more. Someone in that situation probably gets to see the sales that require credits. However, I have no credits. I don't know why I would be able to see the webpage, and you wouldn't.

Ya'll are going to have trouble believing this, but I'm telling you the truth.

I just went through the entire checkout procedure for The Great Courses sale, except for the final step of "confirm purchase," and the total is $0.00. I selected two books. Under "order summary," it showed something like this:
Credits applied 0($0.00)
Total $0.00
Confirm Purchase.

As I mentioned earlier, I am not even a credit member: I am just an InactiveLighter.

I was afraid to click on "confirm purchase"--because of ethics, law, MobileRead rules, and all of those things. This issue goes way beyond a pricing mistake, which perhaps a person can take advantage of without doing anything wrong. But I wondered what would have happened if I had clicked on "confirm purchase" and the sale had gone through (other than a U.S. Marshal probably giving me a knock on the door later this morning. ha)???

The only thing that I possibly can imagine that has caused this quirk is the fact that I got all of my log ins and sign ins messed up several months ago; I had to log in just to be able to go through the purchase process just now.

I wish that I could send you a screen shot or something. I tried to create a PDF, but I don't even have the tools to edit one of those (Paint wouldn't do it). Then there's the MobileRead pixel limit rule to be concerned about. This is just not my forte. I'll keep the webpage/tab open; maybe I can figure out a way to make an editable image and attach it to one of these messages.
