I also really liked it and have now bought the e-copy to replace my paper version. I also recommend the authors other books, both the Tinker series and Ukiah Oregon series

The kindle edition doesn't seem to appear in the UK store. All I see is the original mass market paperback.

I believe Roc doesn't have UK rights.

The reduction appears to apply to US & Canada only, but the ebook is available in most of the rest of the world. I checked Germany and Mexico, (Australia doesn't have it).

That would fit - what I see are Baen editions. I wonder who does have the UK rights; Penguin does't seem to have her listed.

No one. I imagine Wen's agents tried to sell them but failed since there is no UK print edition in Amazon's list.

Same with a even better author, Lois McMaster Bujold. Her agent sold UK rights to many of her books but every time the imprint shortly vanished or failed or dropped her. Hallowed Hunt only appeared in a book club edition.

Elizabeth Moon OTOH has had all of her books in both US and UK editions. Perhaps her early collaboration with Anne McCaffrey (Sassinak, recommended) helped assure reasonable UK sales.

A number of the tor.com novellas are on sale for 99¢ at some of the US etailers right now.

Here's a price-sorted search on tor.com from Amazon US. I confirmed that some of these were 99¢ at Kobo also.

The titles on sale include:
The Last Witness by K. J. Parker
Of Sorrow and Such by Angela Slatter
Sunset Mantle by Alter S. Reiss
The Shootout Solution: Genrenauts Episode 1 by Michael R. Underwood
Domnall and the Borrowed Child by Sylvia Spruck Wrigley
The Emperor's Railroad (The Dreaming Cities) by Guy Haley
The Drowning Eyes by Emily Foster
Patchwerk by David Tallerman
Pieces of Hate (The Assassins Series) by Tim Lebbon

The only one of these I've read (and enjoyed) is Of Sorrow and Such. Off the top of my head, I've read at least four others from the imprint, and I'll definitely scoop up several more now.

I'm not aware of any of these titles being prior Tor giveaways, but they have given away others directly from tor.com, and the novellas are also sold in bundles, so you may want to check your library rather than rely on your etailer to warn of a prior purchase.

A couple of titles for Halloween:

Barbara Hambly's Blood Maidens is $2.99 at Amazon US and Kobo. I know this has been on sale before, not sure how recently. This is the third in a series, the first two can be had from Open Road.

I've read this, along with most of Hambly's other work.

Description:
Spoiler:
The new 'James Asher' vampire novel from the best-selling author - It's 1911. War is coming, and according to one of the vampires of St. Petersburg, the Kaiser is trying to recruit vampires. James Asher, Oxford don and formerly on His Majesty's Secret Service, is forced to team up again with his vampire partner Don Simon Ysidro for a journey to the subarctic Russian capital. Are they on the trail of a rogue vampire with a plan to achieve the power to walk in daylight? Asher wonders. Or is Ysidro's real agenda to seek the woman he once loved?

Also, Kevin David Anderson's Night of the Living Trekkies is $1.99 at Amazon US and Kobo.

I haven't read this one, but if you like Trek and/or zombies it's worth a click through just to check out the cover.

Description:
Spoiler:
Journey to the final frontier of sci-fi zombie horror!

Jim Pike was the world’s biggest Star Trek fan—until two tours of duty in Afghanistan destroyed his faith in the human race. Now he sleepwalks through life as the assistant manager of a small hotel in downtown Houston.

But when hundreds of Trekkies arrive in his lobby for a science-fiction convention, Jim finds himself surrounded by costumed Klingons, Vulcans, and Ferengi—plus a strange virus that transforms its carriers into savage, flesh-eating zombies!

As bloody corpses stumble to life and the planet teeters on the brink of total apocalypse, Jim must deliver a ragtag crew of fanboys and fangirls to safety. Dressed in homemade uniforms and armed with prop phasers, their prime directive is to survive. But how long can they last in the ultimate no-win scenario?

She seems to love plots that take it right to the edge of cheezy, and then see how well she can deal with those plots! I am intrigued! I might bump her up in the reading list!

For you Stephen R. Donaldson fans, The Mirror of Her Dreams is currently $1.99 at Amazon.com.

Unfortunately, they are extorting the second book in the series for $11.99, but one can hope that they put that one on sale at a later date.

.... also, Clifford D. Simak's A Heritage of Stars is also $1.99.

Both are £4.99 on Amazon.co.uk in the Gateway editions.

They don't seem to be discounted at Amazon Spain, but they are at Kobo (at least, when buying from Spain).

I've read almost all of them, and I especially recommend The Last Witness, by K.J. Parker.
