Excellent! I might actually be able to participate this month.

BTW, I went to read the "other thread" but didn't comment-- I didn't want to be accused of thread necromancy.

I can't remember what I'm reading right now, but its a Romance novel.

I need to plow through some library books. I have:
-Rebecca by duMaurier
-new book by Kate Mosse (liked labyrinth well enough)
I think I have something else, but I'm too lazy to get up and find it.

Maybe I'll read Inkheart next. I have a paper copy I borrowed that I haven't read yet. I'd like to read Garth Nix's Superior Saturday, but I don't have a copy and there doesn't seem to be an ebook version.

I've updated my Reading Blog with a "2008 in Review" post. You can read back through the 4 quarterly lists of books I read. Or, the entire year's list appears on The Books of 2008.

Currently reading Fortune and Fate by Sharon Shinn. Have also started reading The Dress Lodger by Sheri Holman, which I owe to Pepper from a swap at BookObsessed.

Forgive me for I have sinned!

I read a pBook (Subterranean by James Rollins). Here are the details:

My wife and I were vacationing in the British Virgin Islands (Tortola) and were lounging on the beach one day when I noticed a guy reading a paperback a few beach chairs away. It was Subterranean by Jame Rollins. Since I hadn't read anything by him, I wandered over and asked how he liked it. "Great read" he said.

In fact, he told me he brought a suitcase full of books on this trip. Naturally, I told him he needed an eBook reader and showed him my Sony. And that got his attention. He said it would fill his two strongest joys, reading and toys.

Anyway, he and his wife then left the beach. But, a couple of hours later he wandered back and told me he'd finished the book and still really liked it. Then he handed it to me and thanked me for introducing him to eBooks

So, I figured, what harm could having a pBook in the room do. So, it sat there for a day or two. And damn it, I kept looking at it. Then I thought, 'what harm can reading a page or two do, just to see what a pBook is like?

So I read a page. Then I thought, 'hmmm, maybe I ought to read the whole chapter'. Of course, you know what happened next. I devoured the damn thing. Damn pBooks are just as addictive as eBooks.

Anyway, it was a good read.

You are forgiven child.

For your penance you must convert 10 PG books to a "real" format and upload them to the mobileread book section.

Now, go in peace.

That was nice of him You know he's going to buy a Reader as soon as he can.

I just bought 5 pbooks this week. I had a gift certificate to B&N and $10 in coupons from Borders (and a 40% off coupon). It made me miss Borders, but miss B&N less..

No I haven't gotten them yet. I've found it usually takes at least two weeks, maybe more, cause they put books on the backs of camels and usually ship from some unheard of country, no matter what they say in the description.

I think I'm glad I did insurance. I have little faith that those camels will make it across the desert without hitting an oasis.

okay, but seriously.........

Many people talk about replacing their entire paper library and the joy of having all their books on an e-book reader.

This is fine..............as long as your book reader is 'readable'. Say, for instance, you lost it, or broke it.

Now you have NO books in the house to read.

I'm just taking out insurance here. No matter what, I will have something to read.

And, since I have always (most always) bought used books, I am no contributing to any environmental concerns.
