Edit: My credit card blocked the transaction. Too many funny charges. It's probably not physically possible to go from NZ to US in the same day and yet I did.

It happened to me as well. Credit card companies don't like lots of tiny little charges becoz they think these look like frauds. These days I buy gift cards and load them up to my accounts before I go shopping. I buy from the Canadian store, but I need to use Hola (so that I appear I browse from within Canada) to get to that page. I logged on to my account first, then fire up Hola, and then load the eGift page to purchase.

Has anyone been able to generate any codes today? No matter what combination of email addresses/Kobo accounts I try, no codes are sent

Is there any limit to how many books you can buy with the Refer a Friend codes?

I have gotten two codes from you v generous people in here. I used the first code I received (multi-tabbed 25 books, I was shocked that it worked for so many), and then when I try to use the second code it wouldn't work at all (or I have yet to find a book that allows it).

The rules says that our friends need to get registered with Kobo and make a first purchase, then we will receive a code for ourselves. But theoretically we can still use our friends' codes, right?

Once I use an account with a refer a friend code, I can't use it again with a different code. However, using the shopping cart, I can put 9 books in, use 9 different codes in that account -- but that's the end for that account.

Multi tab didn't occur to me as I don't have any existing KOBO accounts that I haven't used a refer code in. Everytime I find 9 more books I want to buy, I make one new account and use 9 codes. But I think you are saying that I can make 9 new accounts and use my 9 codes 81 times? Boggles the mind. And, I don't think I have 81 books left I want to buy. I think I bought about 100 already.

Multitab you can do with using only one account one code. You just open, e.g. 25 tabs in your browser, each with a book you want to purchase. Apply the code to every one of them, when you have applied the very same code on every tab, then start clicking the purchase button for every single tab. Usually I manage to multitab at most 5 to 6 books - but perhaps something to do with the network being slow I managed to put through 25.

Thanks for answering my Q - now I understand why I can't put through another code now that I have used the first code. I won't be so adventurous as to create so many account. One is already enough. I have two though - so that I may check book prices of two countries in addition to the one I'm in, using them to log on using different browsers...
