Trying to add kudos, hits, bookmarks, comments and total chapt, but it doesnt work

Hello, im trying to add kudos and totalchapcount to custom column and done add that but the FFF cannot seem to read it. And i have no clue whats im doing wrong, my personal.ini is just a mix match between three guides that I tried finding the answer here and check past threads, tried to work around still no. And its been over a week, so if anybody can help, please.

Spoiler:
Code:

## [defaults] section applies out to all formats and sites but may be
## overridden at several levels. See

## This section changes how chapters are handled. I did not like the default “1. Chapter 1” display. The below block of code turns “1. Chapter 1” into “- Chapter 1 -” for stories with no chapter titles. It looks like this otherwise: “Chapter 1 - Title of chapter.”
## I also included the ability for WIP to show which chapters are “new”
mark_new_chapters:true
# used for WIP
strip_chapter_numbers:true
add_chapter_numbers:true
chapter_title_add_pattern: - Chapter ${number} - ${title}

(Wrap ini files in [code] tags to preserve whitespace--it matters for personal.ini. I did it for you this time so I could read it better.)

You have a custom_columns_settings under [overrides] that is replacing that setting from [archiveofourown.org]. That looks like earlier testing code.

I would remove that and also put your kudos and totalchapcount lines in the existing add_to_custom_columns_settings under [archiveofourown.org] instead of custom_columns_settings

There's a wiki section explains about add_to_.

Has there been any kind of change with how personal.ini needs to be setup for spacebattles or something? I've gotten this error on everything I've tried to download from there in the last 12 hours or so:
HTTP Error in FFF '403 Client Error: Forbidden for url: https://forums.spacebattles.com/login'(403)

All I have in the ini file under [forums.spacebattles.com] is my login and password, but that's all I've ever had there, and I've never had problems before. When I first had download issues, I downloaded the current test version (2026/08/10 - base_xenforo2forum_adapter: Reader mode--don't try pages < 1) and tried it and the same thing is happening, same error.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is it something SB is doing (I've noticed it's doing the cloudflare thing a lot today...)?

Updated to the latest firefox, calibre and FFF versions

It is not an issue with the internet connection or pc ram etc
I use firefox and it has been working for me. the only help I can really offer is to share my personal.ini code. Also, before running fff, you do have your browser open and you are logged in to AO3? You will need to verify that your browser cache path is correct for you / your install.

Code:

Maybe it is a temporary thing? Try again tomorrow? Is it one story or all stories?

Clear your cache and then open your browser and re-login to AO3?

Sorry I don't have much in the way of suggestion. I just downloaded a story just fine. You can see my settings just above as a reply to palindrome-fox.

Is there a way to use the last updated date to change the status from in-progress to abandoned?

I see the following in my downloaded meta:

Code:
<p><span class='label'>Updated</span>: <div class='metadata datetime' id='dateUpdated'>2022-02-04T00:00:00</div><p>

and

<p><span class='label'>Lastupdate</span>: <div class='metadata list' id='lastupdate'><ul>
<li>Last Update Year/Month: 2022/02</li>
<li>Last Update: 2022/02/04</li>
</ul></div><p>
Can I use that info to do some sort of IF to change:

Code:
<p><span class='label'>Status</span>: <div class='metadata' id='status'>In-Progress</div><p>
to be Abandoned if the update time was over 3 years ago (for example)? I do have a column for the status...

Regular expressions don't do math well. I cannot think of a way to compare dates using FFF's metadata handling.

(And I would not do it that in FFF -- FFF only changes things if you run an update, it is my opinion that you should only do FFF updates when there's a story update.)

OTOH, a Calibre custom "Column built from other columns" could easily look at a date column and compare to current date.

Personally, I use saved searches for that sort of thing. Here's an example:
Code:
identifiers:forum and not tags:complete and not tags:abandoned and not tags:ForumEmailUpdate and #updated:>=183daysago
(I tag SB/SV/etc stories I'm 'watching' with ForumEmailUpdate.)

So instead of running an expensive FFF update, you could run a saved search and change the status on the results. I expect an Action Chain could make it one step.

Thanks for the info. I will look at your suggestion then. I just wanted to ask since I wasn't sure if there was some sort of replace metadata line I could use.

Just realized I didn't add a custom column for the updated date. Didn't think I would care, so I'm going to have to add that first. of course!

I use an action chain for this. Somebody shared it a while ago and I just adapted it with my specific day range. This is the template I have:
Code:
program:
now = format_date(today(),'iso');
updated = $$#updated;
status = $#completionstatus;

	if
		status=='In-Progress'
		&& days_between(now, updated) ># 365
	then
		'Abandoned'

	elif
		status=='In-Progress'
		&& days_between(now, updated) ># 120
	then
		'Dormant'

	else
		status
	fi
I periodically will go through my WIP fics, and use the action chain to update the status. If a fic hasn't been updated in 365 days, it'll show as abandoned. If it hasn't been updated within 120 days it'll show dormant.
