I'm having a curious problem.

I referred another email address of mine. When I went to set up an account with that email, it told me it was already in their system. OK, I vaguely remember having some issue with an account at the beginning and deciding to just create a new one. So I tried to log in with the password LastPass has saved for that email. Nope. OK, I'll just reset the password. Which I do, but it tells me the email/password I just set don't match their records.

So I can't set up a new account with that email, I can't use the password that should go with it, and I can't reset it to something new. Nice. At least I know I can use the coupon that came with that referral on my regular account, and since it sounds like no one's getting the after-first-purchase coupons anyway it's no loss.

Except now I'm not 100% sure I never did buy anything on that account, and now I can't get into it to check and/or redownload anything if necessary. Just the usual Kobo fun.

Melmac was kind enough to PM me a code after I never received any referral codes. I used it to purchase a book, but unfortunately the book isn't in my library. Kobo, why do you hate me so much?

If it doesn't appear soon, what's the best way to contact Kobo and actually get help?

When I had that exact issue, I went to their website under help, submitted an online form giving the full book title & author, the form then gave me a number for my issue, and a phone # to call. Doing it this way meant the person who answered my call didn't have to check spellings, etc.and there was never an issue with misunderstanding and they always successfully added the purchased book to my library. Just give the incident # immediately when you get someone on the phone.

This system worked well for me, whereas contacting by email... was a nightmare!

I was just looking at that page, and was trying to figure out if I should choose the U.S. as my location or New Zealand since that's what the account I used to purchase the book says. I'm in the US and the account I used is not my normal Kobo account.

I think U.S. Otherwise you might need to call NZ. I don't think they check your address when you talk to them.
But maybe someone else knows for sure.

Oh, and before calling, have your account open and refresh after they say they've added it to make sure it was successful.
If the book is only available in NZ, not in the U.S., I change my answer to NZ...

@purple lady did you check Kobo Desktop for that account to see if the book is a kepub?

Check that your Desktop account is signed intO the account you purchased the book with.

I tried the refer a friend to 2 account that are working email account that have never had a Kobo purchase. No email was received at either account in order to make a purchase. Guess I am stuck hoping for a some better codes at the contest. So far nothing but 35% off.
