Since you've proven it doesn't happen in other Calibre versions, you clearly have other versions available.

That is fine. I posted mostly out of worry something screwy was going on pre-announcing a later problem, if you have confirmed it is specific then good enough for me.

This is indeed a problem that arrived in 4.57. Specifically in 270e01c3c747e012cb85a6c17d495406b7c4b4f7, a change to cache ini settings for performance improvement.

Unfortunately, I did not remember that the "pass calibre columns into FanficFare" effectively changes the ini settings.

Thanks for catching this. Fix will be in the next test version.
