My most enjoyable experience was in a hammock in the Sierra Mountains, beside a rushing river, surrounded by majestic redwood trees. Ahhh, life can be deliciously sweet sometimes.

Nowhere special yet with my eReader - I've not had it long enough. With a pBook though, all over the place. Some that come to mind though would be...
Sitting beside a live grenade range (too closely) so that I had to keep brushing pieces of shrapnel off of the book as I read. Inside an APC driving/floating across a fjord in Norway. Floating in a few inches of water in Lake Assal, Djibouti. |

I've read on an electronic device in a lot of the same scenarios as others;
dentist'schair in labor (for both babies, I flipped between a contraction timer and a book on my smartphone until it was clearly go-time for the hospital. I think my MIL thought I was crazy) waiting at amusement parks while nursing (I do this all the time - keeps me sane in the wee hours) on my honeymoon, in the London Underground during a blackout/stop while cooking Thanksgiving dinner - gotta let the bird rest and everything else is in progress at that point ![]() Pretty much anywhere I can reach and push a button or touch a screen I've read on some device. ![]() Good thing about Warriors is that you can still read while being shot at, these things have fantastic active armour protection ![]() |

At the airport and in the airplane. Lately I've been doing a lot of reading whilst working in our store because of summer vacation and the weather's really hot it's been rather quiet. I've had good reactions from customers, asking if we also sell them. A bonus is that I don't get funny looks because of the books I'm reading.
I did find out I had to keep my Mighty Bright in my bag because my father nearly sold it to a customer who was interested last week. He regularly sells lampfittings, lampshades, covers for switches/wall sockets from our house (we live above the shop). |

This would be good for at least 3 hours of quality reading...assuming you aren't also cooking mashed potatoes, preparing cranberry sauce, and shoving stuffing into the bird's rear end.

Update: at the burn center waiting for the Doc to see if he wanted to debride the burns on my wrist and thigh (it's amazing how much damage hot coffee can do). The nurse asked if I wanted to watch TV while I waited. I said no thanks, just hand me my Kindle and I'll be fine.

Jev's machines reminded me of a curious story I read the other day... about people making their own nuclear fusion reactors.

My most extreme was reading during the wait to land at KFIA during Dessert Storm. KFIA was a partially built airport that we used for operations, and it was under scud attack while we landing.
I also read while we had the nightly gas attack drills. |
