That's why I've been pushing so annoyingly* hard for the "Book Fair" forum: it would be like a giant "Endless Plug Your Novel" thread -- except much more useful. I'll admit, I've never actually dug through that thread; the size is just too intimidating. I'd much prefer a forum where I could browse the post titles (please please pleasepleaseplease with genre tags!) and pick out the specific books that interested me.
*if I'm too annoying about it, tell me! |

There are too many new members who join and post once or twice, solely in order to plug their wares.
Perhaps this ought to be monitored in a way that if a member does not post further within (say) 3 months, their membership is cancelled.... |

Dr Drib, the shamelessly plug your novel thread was a good idea and is generally fun, though I'm not sure it attracts people who are only interested in plugging their book as opposed to generally participating in the forum. It is also not very useful to readers, because, as Worldwalker said, its size is intimidating. I really don't want to plough through hundreds of posts to find that one book that I remember vaguely sounded interesting.
The Book Fair, and a more specific rule for signatures, sound like the best solutions to me, that will help both readers and writers accomplish their goals. |

Just because it has not been explicitly stated: The Promote Your Book Subforum (Name being determined) is on the brink of launch. We're working on the description and the exact right location as we type.

well I hope the subforum happens soon, I almost can't believe I went off on that guy shilling his book, it usually takes copyright talk to get me riled up like that.

I hope you go with the "Book Fair" name, even though it wasn't my idea originally. I think it perfectly captures the concept of a place to hype your new book.
Would book discount offers go there or stay in Deals? If Deals isn't going to be split into devices/stores/books, I'd vote for all book posts (discounted or otherwise) going into Book Fair, or we'll wind up with two of each. And they're swamping the device (which I don't much care about) and store (which I very much do) posts in Deals. It's inevitable, since there are so many more ebooks on the market than there are either ebook readers or ebookstores. |

I like the name Book Fair too.
I think it would be best for the Deals section to only be for devices and accessories, or store-wide offers. That would make it easier for the people looking for offers. When I'm in the market for a device, a book offer just gets in the way, and vice versa. Threads in the book fair could be bumped if there's an offer, or even new threads created. |

Bizarre Books?
Probably not. This weekend is looking good for launch. We'll start moving threads as soon as it's open. |
