Hard case, water resistant, zip up. Looks like you would have to remove the Kobo to use it.

EDIT: But damn, the shipping rates if you live outside the US are insane.

I really like this one, and it comes in a few different colours...I'm just not crazy about the elastic strap around it.

I read earlier where someone suggested using a Post Office bubble mailer as a Kobo sleeve. I thought this was a good idea but maybe the mailer wouldn't last too long on its own. So I used my Foodsaver to fit a plastic sleeve over the mailer. It's not the prettiest but it sure is functional. And if you're afraid of losing it, you could even address it to yourself!

Someone previously had talked about a flip top case that looked like something I quite liked the look of. I did find a company called i-nique (http://www.i-nique.com/default.asp) - no, I'm not associated with them or trying to sell them for anyone - and asked them if they are planning on making one for the Kobo. They replied that they are making ones for the Kobo and they should be available in about a month. I'm going to wait and see how much they are (and shipping as they appear to be a UK based company). They do sell them for other ereaders (available on Amazon) so if they sell them through Amazon the shipping may be reasonable.

Those Kobo Roots covers look good, but the only one I really liked the look of was the Mikonos Blue, but the website seems to not list it anymore. Hopefully some of them are on their way here to Australia, or if not, hopefully they'll reappear soon when they have more in stock!

By the by, I want to thank everyone in the mobileread community for the informative and excellent discussions, it was because of this site I went for a Kobo, and it's because of this site I continually find information on how to handle my new purchase. Many thanks, one and all!

I had the Mikonos blue Roots cover. It is more purple than blue. I returned it because the stitching wasn't consistent and there was a section of the seam not glued together (they stitch around the sleeve and then heat seal the two pieces together).

I picked up the Roots black one at Chapters (Canada - Indigo's sister company). I am happy with the quality and the look.

Some are wanting a cover like a book style. I am not sure that is what I want as I like not having to hold another side like a book. The Kobo is so light it is extremely easy to hold in on hand and flip pages (if you are right handed).

I hope you enjoy your Kobo!

Hmm I seem to have found one that works. Looked at the measurements and drew it up before buying and knew it would be close. Got this case (and the Alice version too) http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Jona...?cds2Pid=30261

There are a couple of issues. First is the top right "hook" covers the power button which makes it difficult to turn on, personally its not something I do a lot of so its not a problems. The back button is a bit hard to get to as its right at the top of the "holder" in the cover, but I dont think I have ever used this button so thats not a problem. Lastly the USB port is right on the edge of the hole at the bottom, you can slide the USB cable in but it takes a bit of fiddling. All of these issues are really minor gripes and can be gotten around pretty easily. Oh I guess the price is the other gripe, but I do like these covers as they seem to have a bit of style to them.

Damn, that is a great looking cover! Very stylish. Personally I like to use my Reader 'naked', so I don't think the drawbacks you mention would put me off, although it's good to know that the case works OK with the Kobo in it.

EDIT: is it a snug fit, or does the kobo Reader wobble around a little?

Has anyone else had luck using the Kobo Reader in a Nook cover? They're quite close in size, I think the Nook is 6mm wider and 16mm taller.

Its a snug fit in terms of being able to move the kobo around once its in the cover. There are gaps on the side in the "holder" but the back of the kobo has a fair bit of friction on the fabric they have used on the inside. You can tell its not made for the cover, but if I shake it around it doesn't move.

more cases

it looks like ereadersRus is not selling the kobo reader, but it is selling cases and chargers for the kobo reader. http://www.ereadersrus.com.au/catego.../Kobo-related/
has also listed the pagesleeve, which seems to be a good solution.. Touring sleeve seem to fit the Kobo reader also..

Plenty of Smiggle shops here in Australia.

I've ordered a case from M-Edge that's technically meant for a Nook. I figure it won't be perfect... but the dimensions are fairly close, and... carrying my Kobo around right now is like an exercise in panic. I won't put it in my purse because I don't want the screen to scrape up against my keys or something... but I don't want to just carry it, because I keep envisioning myself dropping it.

Soon as my case arrives, I'll take pictures and post.

I just read about the M-Edge Guardian Case on Wired:
http://www.wired.com/reviews/product/pr_medge_guardian

+ Waterproof and Durable!

If M-Edge makes one for the Kobo, I think it would be an excellent protective case!

http://www.medgestore.com/

Just emailed to ask if they've any plans on developing one for Kobo EReader.

Peace and God bless.

Wow, that thing does look pretty durable. Kind of reminds me of military-grade laptops and such tech.

But at 80$, it does seem a tad expensive. The Kobo version would probably be cheaper though, but by how much would very much be the kicker for me.
