I have just received the following:

Quote:
Dear Sir, Madam,

Herewith we would like to inform you that unfortunately your goods are
being held in customs and UPS was not able to pick them up.
We solved the issue today and the individual shipments will start on
Wednesday and you can expect your order on Friday or Monday at the
latest.

We would like to apologize for the inconvenience and we are doing
everything possible and hope that your order will arrive as soon as
possible.

Kind regards,

the iRex Team
So why were ours held in customs and others not?

I think they mean their first batch of devices which came from Taiwan (?) or from wherever is still in costum. And thats why they are not abel to ship yet and thats why they are not abel to call UPS and let them pick up. They just don't have them yet.

Thats the first answer by them that sounds honest for me

I think "Held in customs" means: We know that you know that we are delayed so we will give you another excuse.

I have just responded to their mail with:

Do you people realise the damage you are doing to yourselves in terms of the negative feeling/publicity you are generating within the ebook communities?

I'm a member of the mobileread forum. I seriously suggest that if you don't have people monitoring these forums that you start quickly. As a group we are all getting very tired of delays and excuses.

Well your order number is 11 higher than mine. Which makes it seem a little odd.

I just got this one (Germany):
"Dear Mr.
We would like to inform you that your order has been shipped and should arrive within 3 working days.
The UPS tracking number will be forwarded to you later today or tomorrow morning in order to allow you to track your package.

Herewith we would also like to send you a Quick Reference Guide which will introduce the basic functionalities of your iLiad
and will help you get started right away.
Kind regards,
the iRex Team"

This stuff makes me sick. Btw, this is my response. I'm #383 and from germany, like ThinkNeXT.

If the goods are held in customs, how comes other orders (with higher order
number) have been shipped today? To me, this looks like very lame excuses,
and either this statement or the one you sent to order #393 is not true.

What is going on in that company of yours? I'm not far from cancelling this
stuff, as are the fellow readers are mobileread.com.

Yours,

Hmm, so thats 2 people in Germany to receive shipping notifications.

--edit

Just had another strop pointint out that 2 other mobilereaders with higher order numbers have now received confirmations that their orders have shipped.

I have suggested that it is imperative that they get off their backsides and start monitoring this forum, so as to explain this turn of events.

We understand your concern however the order numbers are not necessarily
handled in chronicle order.
A certain number of orders have been shipped today and those customers
have received a confirmation via e-mail.
Unfortunately we were not able to ship all orders due to a large number
of iLiads being held in customs in Germany, however this is solved by
now and we will continue the individual shipments from tomorrow onward.
Again we apologize for the inconvenience and we are following this issue
very closely and will do
everything we can to solve it and ship your order as soon as possible.

Kind Regards,

The iRex Team

Sorry I should have said:This wasn't directed at you Ali, but would be my response to that had I received it.

Why not?

Surely it's very simple, those people that ordered first, should get their items first.

Interestingly, they havn't responded to me yet.

I honor that Irex decided to open their prodcut to "small quantity" users. I understand that this caused some unexpected problems, esspecially as they seem to have their roots in research. Not problem at all with that. But please just speak plain text to us and don't give up your B2C approach. Thank you!
