You are the only one talking about an iRex vs kindle ePub support. I talk of my cybook, not a kindle that have a personal store that iRex have not.

Again, let's try to keep the tone civil in this thread. If there is no substantive information to share on this topic, perhaps it's time to move on.

Well, to me it seems that some users of this forum try to defend the Iliad and iRex. If they realy believe iRex customer service is a good thing, well, be happy with it.
It seems to me that in USA there is more lack of service than in Europe and USA citizens are used to that and just accept it.
Its a matter of distiction, if your used to less service and garantee, then it seems all correct the way iRex treats its customers.
So there are two opinions about service and garantee, makes sence where you come from.

btw FBReader is unable to open ePub with DRM, so at first I have to strip DRM

read this: http://www.cpels.nl/e-books/bol-com-drm-verwijderen
And yes, its only Dutch, because others dont seem to have any trouble with it.
However I will thank everyone for contributing on this tread

I am not sure whether there is a big difference between the two. I think V2 has a better battery life, but I'm sure someone here knows more.
If you are after a device to tinker with (install your own programs or programs that other people made) - look no further. Especially if you can get a good price on it
Otherwise, if you're an average user who just wants to read e-books, I'd say shop around unless you are after some specific Iliad feature.

They're basically the same thing. v2 has a slightly longer battery life (15hrs vs 12hrs) and a redesigned case mostly having to do with some extra internal support. Other than that, they're identical. Both have the same hardware inside and run the same software.

Personally, if I were thinking about an iLiad at this point I would wait for the DR800SG to be released. I expect that the iLiads will be discontinued fairly soon.

I also think that sale of the iLIAD will be discontinued in the first half of this year. As you can read at this thread the further development of the iLIAD has allready been discontinued a year ago.

If it offers all you want than it is a good device, but given the circumstances i would aonly buy it at a very reasonable price.

Someone in a Dutch forum is claiming that the compensation for the poor performance of Iliads was a hoax they made up.

Haha. Good one.

So, if true, and no-one replies to state that they did get compensation, I guess Iliad users get nothing.

Irex sucks.

This thread has been 100% BS from the start. The person who started the "hoax" confesses to it on the NRC epaper forum (closed), which is mirrored here:
http://www.niemantsverdriet.nl/nrc2i...opic_2_54.html

It's in Dutch, but translated it says:
"... I would like to report that the hoax I launched about the compensation only produced questions about how to get this compensation. For those who are not aware yet: I've made it up. There where several members (of NRC forum) in the conspiracy. ...."

I guess that means that everything MB forum member Hapipiko (and friends) has posted has no value.

Why should anybody create such a hoax? It really makes no sense!
I think this recall is a HOAX itself meant to stop potential new users that could also reclaim an e-book.

All i now is that i am happy with my DR1000 now

I agree. Ask hapipiko, he was the one claiming this was true on here. Apparently, everything he said in this thread was a lie. As for why anyone would do that... who knows. It got him a lot of attention, maybe that's all he was after.
