Personally, I am not against that idea. Why would you have a cat that always goes outside when you hardly have an outside in the first place? If you keep a cat as companion, shouldn't he be with you and keep you company?

My cats are here for two reasons. One is companionship (they are only allowed to go outside when the weather is nice and during the day, at night, they're always inside) and the other is mousing... (and the small one is a master!)

Aye, it was indeed. We'd done a little that day beforehand, but, yes. This was not long after we adopted him (he's a "rescue"), and we'd been told he absolutely hated water. Well, someone forgot to tell him, because he'd been walking into the shower with us in the morning, and he apparently could swim quite well. He's not totally enthused about it, but he's not nervous, and quite trusting (we made sure he could always trust us). As in the video, I'd cradle him while swimming out into the channel, and then we'd both swim back. We did that further and further out.

He's a good boy. Nearly 11 now (we got him at 8). Slowing down a little in the body, if not the mind.

Cheers,
Marc

Norton is part fish. I covered a slide with non-skid paint so he could have an easy way out of the pool in case he jumps in when I'm not there. When I go swimming, I attach the steps so he can get in and out as he pleases. Whenever I reach for my swim trunks or mention the word "swim," he goes absolutely nuts.

You only think you're joking!

When we have steak, I cut his up for him.

If there's any left over, my son gets some.

The blue one must have been a dog. If it was a cat the fish would have been inside the blue one rather than next to the blue one.

Reminds me of a neighbourhood cat I once knew: it used to sneak into our house and just sit in front of our fish tank; watching... intently
