Thanks dor this statement.
I think what most of us are really interested in knowing (apart from the imporvements with the new OS) is any news about the Release of this device.
iRex is losing it's lead fast with the Hanlin V2 and the Sony Reader both on the way...being first could have secured many early-adpoters, exactlthe people who would be willinf to actually pay 650Euro for a book..^^

It's a short article, but interesting:

For your convenience I'll paste it here:

"Gruppo Espresso informs

April 27, 2006
Agreement reached between L’Espresso Group and iRex Technologies to test the e-paper: la Repubblica will be the first Italian newspaper on electronic ink

L’Espresso Group has reached an agreement with iRex Technologies to create the first mobile newspaper on electronic ink.
The agreement is regarding la Repubblica, which, in the next weeks will test a first panel of 300 readers, who will receive the daily and several further updating on a special device called “electronic reader”, by the name of iLiad.
The wireless device provided by iRex is based on an innovative solution of electronic paper on a display, operated through easy manual controls or with a touch pen. The display is 8.1 inch size with 16 levels of grey which make it easily readable in every place and with every light. Features of the newspaper are accurately reproduced by the interface.
To the Espresso Group, which since 2000 has invested in the start-up E-ink, creator of the prototype of the basic technology of the electronic ink, this represents the development of product innovation, which has marked the Group’s strategy over the last years.
In a test stage, the device will allow innovative ways of presentation and delivery of the newspaper.

Rome – Eindhoven, April 27, 2006"

Interesting things that would make good content for a video of the iRex iLiad:

1. Size comparisons.

2. Show the speed of loading PDFs.

3. Show picture quality.

4. Show making notes on HTML and PDF files.

5. Show the user interface in action.

Thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to do this!

Sam Krupa

EDIT: CommanderROR would add:

6. Show writing/drawing on screen (not just annotation)

You probably won't. The MSRP of the Chinese version is 9980 RMB which is about 1200 USD. How much is the dutch version?

I calculated my T3 this way:
400 Euro + 80 Euro 1 GB SD card / 150 free ebooks from Baen = 3.20 Euro per book.
