Just as an addition, the slight blistering only appears when the device is used - and disappears when left off overnight. I can only assume it is an external coating that is lifting off when (?) heat if generated when the device is used. It kind of reminds me of silicon coverings we can purchase for mobile phones.

I have a white one. There is no problem with this color. My EZ REader basic is black and there is no problem with that one either.

I haven't done it when talking directly to astak support, but Robert didn't seem to respond to my query in one of the threads when I said I think I should get free shipping

One case of bad battery is realy not an apperent issue (especially with the same person having problem locking it might be defective mobo). I have been reading for 2 days non stop. On my third book now (granted it's Myth series and it's short) and I still have full bar.

The color *IS* molded into plastic.
Just look at the photos. The plastic body under that peeled layer has the unit color.

They just applied ANOTHER layer of stuff on the body. Not to paint it to the desired color, but to give the surface that nice rubberized touch.

I have had the same problem with a fancy Ikea lamp. After some use the nice rubberized layer started to dissolve in places where I touched the lamp. I removed the rubberized layer from the lamp using microfiber cloth and alcohol.


RobertB. The blue units that you have unpacked to see if the the wrinkles, cracks and peeled surfaces would develop have to be handled by human hands IMHO. Not just sitting there untouched.

Thank you very much for that tip. If/when my blue PP arrives, I will give your microfiber and alcohol trick a try if I see a problem with the coating. My order is going through a real ordeal in customs and I do not want to have to through that all over again for a replacement. I usually have a much better customs experience when ordering from China than from the United States???

I 100% agree. Wrinkles only appear where I have touched repeatedly, which currently leaves the 2,3,4,5 buttons without wrinkles.

I also noticed the this problem only appears on the front (Bezel and Buttons)
and not on the edges where I touch all the time

My blue finish is also coming off. It started with just a tiny wrinkle near the light but has now spread to the whole corner. I think I'll just get a black one instead. I played with the PEZ over the weekend and overall was pleased but I couldn't get the firmware to update. I know I won't be keeping this unit but wanted to see how the different formats looked after the update. When it says:
"4. Then, first holding down the silver "volume up" button on the right side of the EZ Reader, then press the ON button to turn on your EZ Reader. " are they talking about the toggle switch on the right side or another button? My toggle switch is not silver. I tried using it though but the unit just kept turning off and on and never asked if I wanted to do the firmware update.
Does anyone have suggestions?

You just quoted the instructions for the EZREader, not the Pocket Pro. The firmware update instructions are different for the Pocket Pro in the SECOND line of step 4.

I, too, took off my battery door, and the plastic below it WAS blue. The stripes shown in the purple picture were the same way on mine, but the material of the door WAS blue. Apparently the stripes are the way their manufacturing process leaves the bottom side when painting this rubber coating. I imagine the full case would have this type of stripes on the inside also. It's hard to paint both sides of an item without some indications left.

You seem to only want to criticize eveything eveyone says, and you don't indicate you have a PEZ, just a Sony. Are you TRYING (and Not succeeding) to disrupt this forum?
