Well I can't speak to your needs of course, but some buy it for the eBook selection and many like the dictionary, keyboard search and other features of the product. Some own Kindles and never use the wireless feature.

Well I'm waiting for PRS-600, it will have all of it, except for wireless.
I am just not sure if I should buy it now, if there's some nice reader with wireless coming soon, then it would be way better.

What in my posts suggested that I feel guilt? Because I don't.

I would like to see a survey of consumers-who-turn-into-producers who answer the same question on their view of copyright laws. Would their view be different now that they are the victims of piracy? I used to download warez software until I became an ISV. Now, after wearing the other show, I only use open source software or I purchase it.

I'm late to this thread, but basically agree with all the original points.

Hat's off to the (foolhardy) courage of the original poster. It's not really the sort of line that needs to be public at MobileRead, which aims to be a respectable forum.

While not a writer myself, a good friend of mine who writes academic books which sell reasonably well, is also very relieved to see some of his work pirated at a certain site. As, he sees it, it means they're more likely to be read and cited by the grad student and junior faculty community, and keep his reputation high. I don't find this cynical, merely a rational response to the skill market in which he finds himself.

I had not thought of that and I should have. A lot of the crafting magazines that I have subscribed to over the years have placed the same restriction on the project instructions they provide. I guess that could be called Sales Restriction Management or SRM.

I haven't read all these posts but have a general idea. We don't get service where we live in th USA either so Kindle wouldn't help. But why not a Sony? Even with Kindle you can download books from your PC can't you?

From the for watit is worth department;
I do not really understand why there is a restriction on where the devices can be sold.
I DO NOT agree with illegally downloading books. What is the difference between thatand stealing the book out of Barnes & Noble?
