Only the 6.10 64Bit version works here (without rosetta) for about 2 hours before crashing. Only rosetta will work with any other version.

Calibre 6.11 works for me with rosetta (on both computers), but it is really slow.

Redid a new installation of Snow Leopard. Now - the 64Bit version also crashes
The 6.11 only starts through rosetta ...

6.11 also seems to work form me via Rosetta. Very slow to open the application but once open seems to work fine.

It is the last beta one you posted and I think it was the 64 bit... on a side note, the start to crash ratio has leveled to about 1 crash per 7 starts... but when it does crash it takes quite a while to get going again (about 5 retries)

I updated to 10.6.1 and can now startup Calibre without Rosetta. It still has crashed a couple times, but it is working. I believe this is your "reverted to QT 4.5" version of the 64 bit build that I'm using.

Can someone please try the normal calibre build on 10.6.1 and report how it does?

I have two builds on my Mac right now:

.6.11 build that is a Universal App, 174 megs in size
.6.11 build that is Intel only, and 98 megs in size, that also tells me there is a newer ".6.11 version" available on the downloads page.

They both work for opening a book, editing metadata, and converting to ePub, without Rosetta emulation (the Intel only version doesn't give me a Rosetta option, obviously)

I am downloading the default version on your site to compare.

Edit: Ok, the .6.11 build that is a Universal App, 174 megs in size seems to be the normal build.

Good, looks like Apple has (partially) fixed whatever broke in 10.6.0

My shortly test on 10.6.1 starting calibre nativly. In all less crashes than before.

calibre-0.6.10-x86_64_first FROM 09-03-2009, 08-40 PM
Less crashes on launching. Always crash on adding, deleting books. After this, the next launch always crash

calibre-0.6.10-x86_64_QT45 FROM 09-03-2009, 03-41 PM
Less crashes on launching. Sometimes crash on adding, deleting books.

calibre-0.6.10-x86_64_QT46 FROM 09-04-2009, 12-02 PM
Terminates immediately without crashlog, as described above!

calibre-0.6.11 NORMALY BUILD
Less crashes on launching. Sometimes crash on adding books.

calibre-0.6.10 NORMALY BUILD
Less crashes on launching. Sometimes crash on adding books.

This effect (no systematic) looks a problem in resource management, like a temporary not available device or something like this (???)

I'm also getting a series of instant crashes in 10.6.1 without rosetta. I've installed the normal calibre build 0.6.11. I tried to remove the preferences folder and restarted calibre. It somewhat worked and I was able to reload my original library, but it crashed after adding an additional ebook and now keeps crashing, even after removing preferences.
