This is optionable, if you don't like it, you can have it turned off. But there are people who are asking for it, that it needs to be in the app, otherwise the app is not complete.
Also what do you mean by that: the text needs to be left as the author wrote it? Normalization have no effect on text, the text stays the same, it just makes everything the same font size. Also you have publishers style that will then make the text look as it was published, but there you cannot change even nothing (lines, widths, etc.) because then it will make no sense to have publishers defaults. |

Making text the same size should not be done before applying font weight. Will adding weight to the font be able to be done without making the text the same size? What's wrong with publisher default to follow the CSS? There should be an option for publisher default that turns off all options and then when you turn off publisher default, all options go back to how they were. |

Then it is OK, as it does not change text the way you thought it would.

Just an information: a first batch of IPAD specific things went into actual/last TestFlight build before public launch:
- Two-column layouts across all main screens: Library, Statistics, Roadmap, Search - Bottom toolbar optimized for iPad - Reader sheets (fonts, search, highlights, bookmarks) use iPad popovers with inline search fields - Jumpbar scrolling fixed on iPad - You can set up for landscape and portrait if you want to see 1 or 2 columns while reading separately Enhanced iPad Statistics - Time-of-day breakdown on the reading-by-hour card - Day-of-week chart and library breakdown on the summary card - Goal progress and streak tracking in month stats - Previous month heatmap shown alongside current month - Year view replaced with 12 monthly grids for better readability - Summary stat cards vertically aligned between columns Plus a lot of small and handy features according to feedback from TestFlight users (like having not just 1, 2, 3, 4, ... for series index, but also 0.1, 5.1; different colors for hyperlinks for light and dark mode, performance fixes, bug fixes, etc.) The second part will be done after launch (context menus, drag and drop, ipad menu bar, multi window support, keyboard shortcuts, pencil support, etc.) |
