Has anyone managed to get the hotfix to work on the Kindle Basic 2024?
I tried again with a factory reset, used Winterbreak 1.4.1 and the universal hotfix 1.9.0. But the hotfix doesn't install, when I disconnect the Kindle from the PC I get an “Update error” message and the Kindle automatically deletes the hotfix. If it's any use, the first 6 digits of the serial number: G093L2 |

I am running a jailbroken Kindle Oasis 3 (KOA3) and everything seemed to have go right when installing KOReader.
When I try to run it through KUAL, the screen flashes and gets back to the default Kindle home screen. I have seen that this something already reported on different models than mine and I have also tried to replace the koreader/frontend/device.lua file as some have reported that this fixed the problem, but the issue persists. Is there something else I am missing? Thanks in advance and congratulations to you amazing people capable of coming up with these modifications. |

Hi,
maybe I'm just being stupid, but after opening the store, there is no Winterbreal / Mesquito icon anywhere to be seen or found. Of course I followed the instructions and reset the Kindle twice, without success. Paperwhite Gen7 FW: 5.16.2.1 Thanks for the support. |

I used the coversetter KUAL extension, which can be found here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=15

How do I delete a post? I just retried with the newest version of the jailbreak and the hotfix, and it works properly now.

Normally we don't delete posts on this forum, as your question might be useful to someone else down the line. It's better to edit your post to include your solution.

I have questions beyond the ones in my first post. If I could find answers it would be useful. I've new to all this. 1. How do you update the hotfix file downloaded from GitHub? I already forgot which page in the guide it could be mentioned (the GitHub page description says nothing about this RN I think). 2. WinterBreak is receiving a lot of update too. Are hotfixes always the equivalent of the Winterbreak updates? They seem to have nearly identical update notes, while having separate GitHub project pages. I'm not even sure how you would re-jailbreak the device if the hotfix didn't contain the same new code. My confusion right now would stem from lack of info and current knowledge on the subject but I'm very open to learning! Last edited by PigDan; 01-03-2025 at 04:31 PM. |
