I edited my previous message but for now the only option that gets metadata from Amazon is using their servers. Google, DuckDuckGo & Wayback Machine are not returning any useful data. Oddly, they all seem to return data in the web browser when I copy the query from the log files.

lol, "greatly improved"? I suspect it has more to do with pushback because Cache was often used to bypass paywalls.

Well, in the past I had noticed something not entirely satisfactory about their covers. New editions are fine in that aspect

There's something even worse then the cover. That's the code they use. It's just so over convoluted. None of those eBooks uses a complex format. So there's no need for the formatting to be so complicated and in some cases, fail to work.
