That's me as well. If I took it only when I expected to have a chance to read, the day I was stuck waiting 4 hours for a tow truck would have been pure hell. Instead I had an enjoyable afternoon of reading.

And yes, I did burn books once in high school after we read Fahrenheit 451 in class. AFAIR, the main issue we found was that a book has a poor structure to support burning. Fanning the pages or crumpling them did make burning easier. |

I have always taken a book every where I go. In school I would rush to get to my next class so I could read before the second bell.

Wow! 8 pages of posts.
I do like the 10+" screen sizes for e-ink comic books. For text I'd agree that 7" black and white is plenty. |

I can't think of any features I would like added to an e-ink device, outside of the larger screen size, especially since the lighting and contrast technology has improved so much over the past decade. Maybe Qi charging or a cover that could also copy and display the cover art of the book I'm reading. (The single thing I don't like about electronic readers is not being able to see the book cover before I start reading.)
I'm looking hard at the Kobo Forma and Amazon Oasis, but am having trouble justifying the $300 when my current electronic reader is an 11" iPad Pro. It's a little too much for reading (too heavy, too bright) but I can settle for this easier than I can settle for a smaller screen (not enough words, too many page turns.) I would buy a new eink reader if they would offer an additional incentive to offset the price -- like a complimentary Kobo VIP membership or a discounted Kindle Unlimited subscription. On one hand, I feel like the prices should be coming down, but on the other, hand it appears to be even more of a niche market now than when they first came out; the small production and sales will keep the prices high. |

![]() I hadn't even considered the Oasis until I saw the previous model was on sale yesterday, but then decided that I would prefer having the lighting on the new model, since I was already compromising on size. What a big price difference though! ![]() |

There are probably features I can't think of that would get me to upgrade, but some that come to mind are still better contrast, less ghosting, remote for page turning, and plastic substrate. Some people seem keen on foldable devices. And I'd still like to near perfect lighting. |

Problem is there really isn't much reason to upgrade for most people unless they break. Screens haven't changed much in the last 5 years. |
