I just noticed another new feature I missed earlier.
You can now mark a dicthtml file as read-only to prevent Nickel syncing it (see https://github.com/geek1011/kobopatc...ment-596228361). |

Hello geek1011, I use the patch "Change dicthtml strings to micthtml", I only use a better dictionary instead of the useless embedded Kobo Italian dictionary. I don't understand: what I should do if the patch will be removed? what do mean with: You can now mark a dicthtml file as read-only? Are You talking about about linux read and write permissions on files? (may be not) Or something in the Kobo data base that should require an access to it?
Because for me the patch is working without any problem. Well, all dictionary are installed, I removed the ones I don't need but they still appear. And it is true, in the dictionary settings the Kobo shows the wrong dictionary but it did also in the previous firmware: always, if I remember correctly, did it. But when searching it uses my better dictionary. And instead of removing the patch, it can be rewritten? Or let it be, I don't care about which dictionary shows the dictionary settings, I only need a working dictionary when searching a word. Last edited by ps67; 03-08-2020 at 02:59 PM. |

In addition, the dictionary table migrations have been neutered, and there won't be one for new installations (see https://github.com/geek1011/kobopatc...ment-596238620). This means that it is not safe to downgrade from a fresh installation (upgrades are fine) of 4.20.14601 while preserving the database as-is (you need to factory reset to an older version or recreate the dictionary table first).
I suspect that the reason the migrations were changed rather than adding a new one is so they didn't have to keep the old dictionary db manipulation cruft (which the migrations depend on) around. |

I don't know where to report this. (this release)
Odd (cosmetic) Next Chapter (file per chapter) KEPUB on my Aura 2 v1 Note only happens 1 time per chapter transition. Backin up a chapter and then going forward, it will not happen for THAT TRANSITION end of current chapter. Swipe for next page (chapter) The screen clears momentarily, then a page (? don't know where it came from) shows, then The Target chapter appears ![]() It only happen the First time a new chapter (file) renders |

Or I can simply stay as I am (now it works, after all) and think about it when the next firmware will come? |

The patch just doesn't have any effect, so if it works for you now, you can leave it as-is. If you experience any unusual behavior or are updating again, just remove the patch. Your dictionaries should be named dicthtml-LOCALE.zip, and marked read-only (especially if overriding a built-in one).

Even with the update that's supposed to include a wifi fix, I still had the problem the other day where I told the reader to sync and it didn't find any wifi networks on the first try. (I live in an apartment building and there are always numerous wifi networks within scanning range.)

Hi my friends,
It's a very good release but I've got 2 comments : - perhaps a percentage battery indicator would be more useful than a draw of the level of the battery ![]() - opening the dictionary directly in full screen would be more practical to see a big part of the definition in only one step ![]() What do you think about thoose 2 ideas guys ? Sorry for my bad english (I'm french). Last edited by akorx; 03-09-2020 at 04:05 PM. |

Just tried this FW on the H2O original. Fastest yet text selection to highlight or annotate.
Other than that not much to affect my usage. I tended to previously view by series only within collections (which might have more than one author), which worked. |

I'm not sure if it is a bug or just strange by design, but I've been wondering for quite a while:
When setting the refresh rate to "Chapter", I would expect that the refresh happens between the last page of the previous chapter and the first page of the new chapter. That's also the way it used to work when Kobo introduced this feature (one of the earlier 4.x firmwares?). The behavior, however, changed later. Now, the refresh happens between the first and the second page of the new chapter. Is it just me who thinks this is a little odd? |
