I like what you've mention you like. I would like to have the header/footer sort of swapped. I would like the title at the top and the total page numbers and chapter page numbers along with the chapter name at the bottom. And U would like if I selected to not show the books title (header), I'd get the space back without having to also remove the footer. |

The other way to do it is to tap the middle of the screen. Then there is a back to page at the bottom requester. Tap that to return. Then you'll get a small page showing n the middle of the screen. Tap that and you'll be back to the page you want. This is how it works for ePub and I hope the same for kepub. |

If I find such a problem, maybe I can go back to fw 4.14. In fact, I do not use many of the new features, and for me, for instance, the new changes in menus are more a regression in usability than an improvement. At the end, each one has to weigh the pros and cons for their one use. In my case, the ease of the use with the menus and the legibility of the header/footer (in a "real book" fashion) is more important. On the other hand, for other people, it can be what they were waiting. So everybody is happy ![]() |

I've been using this firmware on the KA1 with KEPUB files converted by the Kobo driver during sending with Calibre. Everything seems to work fine, but there seems to be an anomaly in chapter counting.
When setting the header to "Percent Read" it says (for this chapter): 5%. The dialog in the "Reading Progress" menu says 0%. When I turn a page, the header says 10%, the dialog says 5%. The header counts pages as having been read as soon as you switch to them; the dialog in the Reading Progress counts as if you have yet to read the page. Not a big problem, but I wonder why they count differently. That could just be the same function ![]() I have used the KA1 with the full screen font hack (and later the official full screen support) for three years, but now that the header can actually display chapter time to go in minutes (and accurately too) and the footer pages - total pages with one screen being one page, I actually like the header and footer to be enabled. |

Hi,
I just updated my Kobo Aura One and after the reboot the user interface looks weird. As you can see on the screenshots, the labels and the menu is totally messed up. firmware is not patched and i did the update as usual (just copied the content of the firmware zip to the .kobo directory) i tried to fall back to the previous version (4.15.12920) but it looks the same. Does anyone of you experience the same or a similar problem? Has anyone an idea what went wrong and how i can fix this? Thanks in advance, your help is higly appreciated! Ron EDIT: found it!... obviously i enable the "Show widget info" setting in the dev options. unticked the checkbox, rebooted and everything is back to normal Sorry for bothering!!! The patch notes say that the clock patch has been removed because there's now a permanent clock in the status bar. I can't find it or a setting for it. The only place I'm seeing the clock is in the top right when the menu is showing.

The clock patch only extended the time the clock appeared when the menu was brought up. Now that the clock there is permanently there while the menu is up the patch is redundant

I haven't tried this firmware yet and wasn't going to (nothing I saw yet affects me and my reading habits). But are you saying that a clock is now displayed always? Even on the pages of the book you're currently reading? I read with no header and the footer only showing pages (x / xxx) and the time in the lower right corner and battery level (through the patch). So I'll still have the time showing while reading with this firmware?

A clock while reading makes no sense, esp on eink. Makes more sense it only comes up when you interrupt reading for something.

![]() Just seriously, I use it a lot in my Onyx Boox when I read at night, without any press in the screen (it shows continuously, refreshing after a page turn). |

It won't make sense to you, I prefer to have it there, eInk, LCD or OLED. It looks like you never lose the awareness of time while you reading.

It’s been discussed before and the likely reason Kobo doesn’t put it on the main page of a book is all the subsequent questions that arise from doing so. And the inevitable conclusion that because of all those factors and that the primary focus of an ereader is to read, that it’s not worth it to them to sink the time into it.
If you want a persistent clock there’s a mod that will give you that function. It’ll even let you choose the position, size, font, and format. |
