So - Turns out my problems seem to have stemmed from the security software that I had installed on my pc...Although why it would be blocking AJAX is beyond me!!!
Sorry for any trouble, and thanks for all of the help! |

Has the ability to edit metadata been added to the web server yet? I'm looking forward to that functionality as it will allow me to substantially decrease my work efficiency.
Thanks, nate |

Is there any way to customize the data that's shown in calibre-server? For example, I'd love for the series information to be displayed when I use the Kindle browser.
Thanks for such a useful program - I donated a long time ago, I should do that agina ![]() Tracey |

This is a great feature.
By the way, send you a donation yesterday. I hope this server can have two classes of users in the future. The admins, that will be able to edit metadata, and the regular users, who will only be able to browse the library content. |

So is there a line somewhere I can edit to have the login prompt NOT display the username?
I understand your reasoning for showing it, as you stated earlier in this thread, and I have no problem using only a single shared user account. But to me it's tacky and non-standard. None of the other services I run on my domain tell you the username, and I would simply prefer this to conform. Love the content server otherwise though, thanks a lot! EDIT: Well I found it, it's on line 281 of Calibre2/Lib/site-packages/calibre/library/server.pyo Of course I have no idea how to edit it properly, as it's a binary file. You can run calibre from source, and edit the line in the source, instructions for doing so are in the user manual

I posted basic instructions for how to access Calibre Content Server from the Kindle web browser.
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71220 The question I have, is there and easy way to have Calibre use a restricted port under Windows? I also tried Fedora 12 and the GUI had the same behavior of preventing the use of any port between 1 - 1024. Running calibre-server from the CLI as administrator under windows did allow the serve to bind to a restricted port, but something else was wrong with the library path. FYI, the Kindle web browser does not allow arbitrary port specifications as part of the web URL. However, it turns out that the Kindle web browser will accept a URL of the form http://ip.address.com:443 |
