So basically, if my H2O wasn't allowed in the cabin, I'd not be able to bring it with me. |

The dimensions posted back on page 1 are:
length: 16.0cm width: 9.3cm depth: 1.5cm Kobo Mini is too wide. It's 13cm long, 10cm wide, 1 cm deep. |

I do have a little Pocket Reader that'd work though. 12cm long, 8cm wide, and a hair over 1cm deep. It's a cheap little thing. Not very comfortable to read on but definitely doable.
I got it for cheap off of Woot a couple of years back. I see Amazon has them. Slick ER430 |

Edit: hmm, it's not e-ink, it's apparently a colour screen. Oh well, the search goes on then! Last edited by Sweetpea; 04-05-2017 at 03:36 AM. |

Yeah, I got a Trekstor Pyrus Mini when they were still being sold, 4.3", eInk, no wi-fi, just as a travel book. Won't be happy when it shuffles off.

I can see this nonsense getting to the point where if it has a battery, it won't be allowed on the plane even in the luggage hold.

Yes, that's the one I had... Had it in my inner jacket picket when I leaned over something and then I heard an ominous "crack"....

Jon, if you have knowledge about this "nonsense" that is not available to the people whose job it is to ensure our safely when flying, I urge you to contact the appropriate government department. You clearly know more about it than they do.

Right now, fear rules. And "they" are winning. Simply because "they" are now taking away our rights. Not directly, naturally, but indirectly. Because their actions (or threats of action!) are limiting our freedom. No making critical items about certain country leaders or you'll be jailed (freedom of speech), no taking electronics on planes, giving up your phone including passwords so they can check your private conversations... (no more privacy). I really am afraid about the direction the so-called free world is now taking. |

What would you suggest as an alternative? That when intelligence services learn that terrorists have devised methods of planting explosives in laptops that can't be detected by current airport scanners that this information should simply be ignored, rather than steps taken to protect the safety of passengers? I'm sorry, but as a frequent flier that seems like an irresponsible course of action to me.

Yes, the Slick ereader is not e-ink. I was able to sideload my EPUBS on it from Calibre. Not sure it's even worth the $30 they're charging for it these days, I think I paid like $20 and I'm not sure it's even worth that.
I'll have to charge it up again and see what features it has. |

No, I'm not "fine" with it, but I'm asking you what you'd suggest as an alternative. What should be the response to reliable intelligence received about threats?
