Gee, all I had to do was stroll over to my local Indigo-Chapters store and give them my credit card. I walked out with a new Kobo Aura One in my choice of colour (provided I wanted black). Nice looking device. Signing in to my account now.

Where did you get the cover? (I assume you mean the official sleep cover, correct?) I emailed Chapters because they originally said the sleep cover would ship on September 6, but it is now September 9, and no sleep cover in sight. Chapters just emailed me back a few minutes ago, and said the sleep cover is not expected in their warehouse until September 23.

That was my choice as well. I went to a local Indigo on the 6th and picked it up in person. That Indigo is on my way home from work and Indigo-Chapters web site said they had 6 in stock in the morning but they only had 2 left when I picked it up in the afternoon. The staff also let me open it up, power it on and take a look at the display before leaving the store. I find in store purchases less painful than ordering on-line, waiting for it to be shipped and then having to wait in line to pick it up after no-one was home to sign for the package.

Yay! Got my email from Rakuten Kobo eReader Store this morning, my KA1 departed Canada last night!! I should be here on Wednesday.

So that was shipped only 5 business days after I ordered and should get to me within 8 business days, just as my order email said.

And after all that work of signing up for FedEx, it is being shipping via UPS! Ha!

I just got my shipping notice of my KA1 this morning. As well as the shock that it's coming from h
Hong Kong and not Canada. Additionally it is being shipped FedEx


Should be here Wednesday according to FedEx

I bought it from Kobo directly. Basically the morning they made the preorders available I ordered both the reader and the official cover.

My Kobo Aura HD came from Hong Kong as well (which I had preordered) so I wasn't surprised. I have the impression that shipping pre-orders from HK is what Kobo does. Only later after launch do they ship from Canada.

Well they indicated that there might be delays if Canada post went on strike. So the impression to me was it was coming from Canada.

No worries though now, it's shipped yay!,

FYI, several people have reported that the shipment is delivered a day earlier than the estimate. The status on mine changed less than 2 hours before they attempted delivery so I was already away from home and missed it (of course).

Just set up my account with UPS and asked it be left without a signature. We will see if it works!

Good to know.. I'll leave a written authorization to leave it at the door as usual for all other deliveries. I'm home as I only work for 3.5 hours a night to earn my 30k a year. But sometimes I don't hear the soft knocking at the door
