No cover for my Aura HD. Had one, didn't like the added bulk. I don't take the Aura HD out of the house. Being such a large screen, I consider it the most susceptible to damage. As I have said before, the only one I ever broke was in its case, closed, as I reached to put it in my purse. Dropped it on a tile floor and it was a goner. I don't think the case is all that helpful when dropped on a hard surface. It has a lot to do with the angle at which it strikes, I think. I am more careful about putting readers in my bag, now. Don't stand while putting it away = my plan. |

I use a cover for my Voyage but that is because it was more convenient holding it in the cover. I do not use it for pretection agains fall. It will also protect the reader in my bag.

I splurged on the official cover for the Paperwhite 3, the expensive one, and it's paid off. It's so nice to hold and it seems very sturdy.

I'm struggling with this issue right now. I've had an e-reader since the first generation Kindle, and haven't used a cover, and haven't broken any. The closest I've come to damaging one is when trying to remove my current Kindle Voyage from a fiendishly snug cover I bought to try (ACdream SmartShell Case), and have been too afraid to use again.
I don't really want a cover, because why add back on that extra weight that the designers have toiled to remove from the device? ... and even though I didn't think it would be a big difference, it really feels a *lot* nicer to me holding the lighter / smaller Voyage than the slightly heavier Paperwhite. Yet, I feel that the Voyage purchase was a fairly expensive indulgence, and I really ought to be careful to protect it. So a bit of a conundrum. At the moment, I'm going with no-cover. I protect in some sort of sleeve if I'm going to carry it around in my bag, though. |
