The Brilliance, book one of a trilogy is currently $1.99 in Kindle form at Amazon. The second book is at the same price.

Gillian Flynn gave it a good recommendation, so... okay, that means little to me, but it does sound interesting enough.

Thanks for sharing the sales! Grabbed them both.

I love Gillian Flynn, I might have actually skipped over this if not for the rec. ^^;

I do too, actually. But it was funnier to pretend.

IMO, Gone Girl was worst of her books. Not saying it's crappy, just that the other two were so much better.

Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson

Quote:
The #1 New York Times bestseller that James Dashner called “fantastic,” with “relentless” suspense and an “explosive” climax. And don’t miss the rest of the Reckoners series, including Firefight—now a #1 New York Times bestseller—and Calamity, coming soon!
Brandon Sanderson, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Words of Radiance, coauthor of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series, and creator of the internationally bestselling Mistborn trilogy, presents Steelheart, the first book in the Reckoners series, an action-packed thrill ride that will leave readers breathless.
How far would you go for revenge if someone killed your father?
If someone destroyed your city?
If everything you ever loved was taken from you?
David Charleston will go to any lengths to stop Steelheart. But to exact revenge in Steelheart’s world, David will need the Reckoners—a shadowy group of rebels bent on maintaining justice.
And it turns out that the Reckoners might just need David too.
Look for book two in the Reckoners series, Firefight, available now.

Thank you for saying this. I was so disappointed with Gone Girl. The mystery (the part that interests me) ends halfway through, and the rest of it is just horrible people doing awful things to each other and to innocent bystanders.

X-link to the DRM-free megathread for a bundle which may be of interest to Star Wars fans who have kids in their lives:

Humble Book Bundle Origami Yoda features a set of sixth-grade schoolboy adventure novels by Tom Angleberger, centred around a boy whose imaginary best friend is the titular origami Yoda, who has a rich inner life with a lot of Star Wars references in it. There's also instructions for folding your own Star Wars origami on the series' official website.

When I saw the title (from their E-mail), I got excited thinking it was books with lots of Star Wars origami in them. Boy was I disappointed! Will check out the website though, thanks for noting that.

Excellent! I've been waiting for this to go on offer, having watched the rather splendid TV series.

The Passage: A Novel (Book One of The Passage Trilogy)
by Justin Cronin

is $1.99 at Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Passage-Novel-...ds=The+passage

Below is the blurb:
NAMED ONE OF THE TEN BEST NOVELS OF THE YEAR BY TIME AND LIBRARY JOURNAL—AND ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The Washington Post • Esquire • U.S. News & World Report • NPR/On Point • St. Louis Post-Dispatch • BookPage

An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy—abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape—but he can’t stop society’s collapse. And as Amy walks alone, across miles and decades, into a future dark with violence and despair, she is filled with the mysterious and terrifying knowledge that only she has the power to save the ruined world.

“Enthralling . . . You will find yourself captivated.”—Stephen King

“Magnificently unnerving . . . The Stand meets The Road.”—Entertainment Weekly

“Great entertainment . . . [a] big, engrossing read.”—The Dallas Morning News

“Mythic storytelling.”—San Francisco Chronicle

I havent seen eTextbook previously. I downloaded the free sample and it was delivered to my device in Amazon's new KFX format with enhanced typesetting features.

ETA: Looks like a bug at Amazon. Lots of other books are now showing up as eTextbooks. Their website currently shows 248,438 eTextbooks available.

Thanks. I chose Kindle unlimited from your link, and The Hobbit is listed as eTextbook format as well. Oops.
