I dont think we can call it a dirty trick as the phone cost more that the $200.00. to build. I believe they just wanted to find out the sweet spot and to bring down the inventory.

Well I'm not real impressed with Straight Talk today. I placed a order for a NANO SIM package last week thursday. I was sent a broken tracking number on Saturday and their lack of customer line promised me a call back this week after waiting 45 minutes on hold.

well if anyone cares the code name for the version of the FIRE OS that is shipped with the unlocked Fire is: 3.6.8 "Juniper"

The version for the Locked contract version is: 3.5.2 duke.

I have no idea what the difference between the two are?

Well Had I know the Deal ends Midnight Tonite PST I would have just went for the Basic as I had planned Now looks like I lose both.

BTW anyone notice the Fire TV is now $69? Yep they posted that within the past 3 hrs.

I caved. With the clock ticking and a shipping date a few weeks out, I figured I'd order and still have time to change my mind and cancel. Taking the buck credit for sloth shipping, I won't get it until the end of the month.

So get those negative reviews up early, folks!

I caved too and mine's supposed to be delivered sometime today. Not at home so I'll have to see what's it like tomorrow. I *am not* going to use it as a phone so YMMV.

I am so HAPPY!

I found the instructions on how to properly (no crashes) install Google Services and Google play!

I am in heaven!!!

And I did it without ROOTING. I am not a fan of rooting as it opens up backdoors and security leaks!

Ps. well I spoke to soon the phone crashed once so far!

UPDATE: the phone is rock solid and I was able to load my banking apps and my purchased google play apps!

You may have thought of this but how about downloading the Amazon App for printing? That away you can Print the directions out before you leave home. That's what I do with my Fire HD.

I have Many Amazon Apps I love to use on the Phone Anyone know IF they are compatible? The Main ones are my Audubon Collection... Your answers will let me know IF I should sell my Fire HD.

I decided that I really, really didn't need the Fire phone, but that the Kindle Paperwhite was calling my name over the weekend because I don't yet have a front-lit e-reader, and I also couldn't pass up the Amazon Fire TV with today's $30 off discount. It'll be a gift, because I've got the Fire Stick on order for myself.

I am so weak...

But at least I used Amazon Smile for the order, so St. Jude's Children's Hospital benefits from my purchase.

That counts for something - doesn't it?
