Moleskine Initialization
Pshrynk got some good advice for how to start a new notebook. For me, I also anoint mine by scribbling absolute nonsense on the first page. Doodles, squares, weird "symbols". Then I'm free, free, free to use the notebook. That's ninja Marvin.

Who said anything there made sense? Or that you read the binary in the proper direction and orientation?
On the other hand, I did make sure my home address was 2346, which is sequential, and is missing 1 and 5, but that's ok, since the numbers add up to "15". Last edited by Taylor514ce; 05-20-2008 at 04:48 PM. |

Ahhh. I selected a phone number once, so it would spell TWO-TWO-2. -- 896-8962. Long gone now, but it was fun.

Late to the party, so forgive my digging so deeply back to the beginning.

![]() My phone numbers never spell anything interesting, it's like some cosmicological law. I did have some friends whose college dorm room number ended (quite appropriately) with "APES" though. |

For Zelda :
Oh, I went down South For to see my Sal Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day My Sal, she is A spunky gal Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Fare thee well, Fare thee well, Fare thee well my fairy fay For I'm going to Lou'siana For to see my Susyanna Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Oh, my Sal, she is A maiden fair Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day With curly eyes And laughing hair Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Fare thee well, Fare thee well, Fare thee well my fairy fay For I'm going to Lou'siana For to see my Susyanna Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Behind the barn, Down on my knees Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day I thought I heard A chicken sneeze Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Fare thee well, Fare thee well, Fare thee well my fairy fay For I'm going to Lou'siana For to see my Susyanna Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day He sneezed so hard With the whooping cough Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day He sneezed his head And the tail right off Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Fare thee well, Fare thee well, Fare thee well my fairy fay For I'm going to Lou'siana For to see my Susyanna Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Oh, a grasshopper sittin' On a railroad track Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day A-pickin' his teethlink to a non-NIEHS site With a carpet tack Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Fare thee well, Fare thee well, Fare thee well my fairy fay For I'm going to Lou'siana For to see my Susyanna Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Oh, I went to bed But it wasn't any use Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day My feet stuck out Like a chicken roost Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day Fare thee well, Fare thee well, Fare thee well my fairy fay For I'm going to Lou'siana For to see my Susyanna Sing Polly wolly doodle all the day |

i should have guessed it was a southernism. does it actually mean something ?
thanks for the lyrics ; my favorite part is this : "A-pickin' his teethlink to a non-NIEHS site" even though i don't know what a "teethlink" is. ![]() |

![]() Well, I was going to bring chips, but I figured that all the dips would be gone. Silly me. ![]() Quote:
.... Here we go. These are things collected from various places that I found either fun or inspirational. They're attributed as appropriate. The ships hung in the air in much the same way that bricks don't. --The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy May I have my sledge-hammer back now, please? --Bill Cosby (in a church parking lot) Do you think we should put the chainsaw away, Honey? --Dr. Sue Simpson Just as she realized the device was never intended to withstand such treatment, it didn't. --this one's mine Why 42?--The answer to this is very simple. It was a joke. It had to be a number, an ordinary, smallish number, and I chose that one. Binary representations, base thirteen, Tibetan monks are all complete nonsense. I sat at my desk, stared into the garden and thought '42 will do' I typed it out. End of story. --Douglas N. Adams The problem with Democracy is that stupid people vastly outnumber intelligent ones. Giving everyone an equal voice only ensures that the stupid thing gets done. --Mine again "Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in." -- Uncle Hub (Robert Duvall), from Secondhand Lions (a great movie, by the way) "We have to be responsible for ourselves, our actions, and responsible to society. Usurping someone else's personal responsibility, though, denies them their sentience. It's right and good to help someone who cannot help himself, but forcfully shielding them from the consequences of their actions, no matter how foolish, is wrong." -- Mara Jade Skywalker (don't remember which book, exactly, it was one of the "Vong" books) |
