Yes! I had remembered reading this but when I tried to remember the DA column I couldn't recollect enough to describe her problem. I knew it had to do with her brain, but that's not very descriptive.

Despite the fact that she no longer writes the wonderful books she used to, I've still found a few of her newer books better than a lot of what is out there. I read Shadow Woman recently and gave it a B-, which is not a bad grade from me. I've just lowered my expectations from her.

So which of the newer books of hers would say it just off like Death Angel? I mean Death Angel starting off pretty good then well you know what happens in the middle and it was after that the writing just got worse and worse. It was like her thoughts were jumbled or something.

I really enjoyed the Judith Stanton (frontier era, set in a Moravian community) and Susan Kay Law (frontier or western, and one around-the-world adventure) historicals in the first link, FYI!

Up Close and Personal (aka stranded-on-the-mountain-after-a-plane-crash-book), Burn (what-not-to-do-when-you-win-the-lottery-book), and Ice (nitty-gritty-ice-storm-and-what-happens-when-a wooden-ladder-is-allowed-to-deteriorate-book) all have a lot (A LOT!) of info dumping. I did like the hero's crew in Burn and would loved to have read a book about them. But didn't like the main romance.

Ice I had multiple issues with
Spoiler:
Gabriel didn’t get off to a good start with his constant and overly repetitious recollections of how Lolly was disdainful of him when he teased her when they were in high school. Geez, you think Sorry, but it was difficult to feel any sympathy for a man thinking a woman is a thoughtless bitch when he has no idea where she is or what is going on, just that she’s put a hitch in his plans to spend time with his son. And the heroine was beyond TSTL! I HATED this book!

ETA: I did not read Prey but have heard the bear is a POV character (not a shape shifter bear, an actual bear).

I listed to the Prey audio book, my first audio book, and it was good. I loved the narrator. Yes the bear had some POV but not much. But the narrator's voice was incredible.

I just finished listening to Shadow Woman and as I said in an earlier post, I liked it. Be forewarned, though, that the H/h don't meet in person until well into the book. I'm trying to remember which other recent books of hers I have read. Up Close and Dangerous didn't do much for me, I actually think it was Death Angel that I kind of enjoyed. I'm thinking you probably don't much like the books I do, there was another one I recommended a bit ago that you did not like.

Have you read her earlier books? I'd really recommend you start with those. Mr. Perfect, Dream Man, Open Season, etc., are her classics and are more universally loved.

No Cry No More was my first Howard book then I read Death Angel. I was looking for something like the first one but that didn't happen. I don't know what I will read next. I actually looking at a real book to read that I have been saving.

I had to check what I read of Linda Howard. I read the first and second in the MacKenzie series, liked the first, was meh on the second.
I liked and read "Dream Man" and "Mr Pefect but its been a few years and I don't remember much so can only go by how I filed it with stars.
I also read and loved "Son of the Morning", but then I love time travel.

I also read a book called Burn by her and I didn't like that one. I think Burn I read when I was starting to try to get into romantic suspense, that book almost cured me of those. . Thinking back now, I wouldn't consider that romantic suspense but a thriller.

And was there a Howard book where there was a serial killer at at one point he gruesomely beheaded a women? I swear I read that a few years I thought it was a Howard. Can't swear on that now and I can't remember what it was called now. *shudders.

I've read the first Mackenzie book, Open Season, Kill and Tell and Now You See Her: I love them. Mr Perfect: nice. Her harlequin: some good, some to throw away. Her later books: mew.

I'm not getting 30% additional. With the code, it's only 15% discount extra for new releases. I've not tried the code on older books.

Is it a glitch? Has anyone tried and managed to get the 30%?

Haven't tried this months code, although there is one book I might buy next week. In the past you've always gotten 30% off the already discounted 30% off price so for example Emerald Fire is discounted 30% off to $3.49 so with the code it should stack on top and be $2.44 (it doesn't add together and give 60% off the list price [which would make it $2.00]).

Discount Coupons SPRINGFLING14: -$1.17
no matter how many books I added to the cart, LOL.
I'm using firefox. not sure if it has anything to do with it.

LH can get a bit gruesome, and she sometimes kills off people that I don't want her to.
Spoiler:
That's one reason why Mr. Perfect is not a re-read for me.

I think Cry No More was a bit different from anything she has ever written, and if I recall correctly it was her last book before many people thought she "jumped the shark".

One book of hers that hasn't been mentioned is To Die For, which I absolutely love, though I've read some people can't stand Blair. I adore her and re-read the book every year or so.

Yes I have read the Blair books but forgot that was her because they are so different from her romantic suspense.

In Cry No More I really like the dark hero concept. Death Angel has a similar hero but it was too wacky of a book. The Assassin hero fascinates me. I just DNF a book that I thought was totally out there. Snatched by Pamela Buford I think it's suppose to be a comedy but it was soo out there and not really funny plus you have to suspend disbelief even more you do when you read the Plum books. I just didn't have it in me to go that far once the author revealed the plots and there were many mini plots. If you have this book I recommend moving it down to the bottom of your TBR pile.
