Looks like I received it yesterday, I had a Canada Post sticker on my door. But I never received any sort of notification (looked at spam box also).

Finally! I got a tracking number this morning. Oddly it's being shipped from Hong Kong, not Canada. Everything I've ordered from Kobo before has come CanadaPost. This is FedEx. Supposed to be here Monday. Hope so. Will be out of town Tuesday and I'd sure like to take it along.

This happened with the Aura HD too. Some orders were fulfilled from Canada and some from Hong Kong.

Just thought I'd update in case anyone's in the same boat:
Ordered a black Aura on 8/29 (I live in California, USA)
Just this morning received an email with FedEx tracking number; shipped out today from Hong Kong. (I thought it had shipped earlier, but apparently that was just an invoice email.)

I ordered a Black Aura on 9/2 and I live in the US too. I got a shipping notice this morning by email and mine is also shipping from Hong Kong with FedEx, expected to arrive on Monday.

Just a FYI

I got the shipping notification this morning (I received the unit yesterday, still at the Postal Office) so don't expect the shipping notification at all

That being said, mine was shipped from Missisauga on monday, was received on Quebec City tuesday, stick there for a complete day there, was on the truck tomorrow and then at the Postal Office since yesterday...

So yeah, it's actually 1-day shipping in Canada but Canada Post is not really that fast, not at all...

Unhappy

Geez, what a gong show at Kobo..

I ordered on the 10th and got a order confirmation email and my CC was charged the full amount..
On the 12th I chatted with customer service and I asked if it had shipped:
Quote:
Nelson G: Thank you very much for waiting.
Nelson G: I found your order that will begin to ship out on September 16th and you will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours.
Mike: ok, thank you..
On the 17th, still nothing so I sent an email to customer support:
Quote:
Hi,
Has this been shipped yet? I still have not received a shipping confirmation. If this has NOT been shipped, I would like to cancel my order and have my CC credited back please... --
and got the standard reply:
Quote:
Thank you for contacting Kobo Customer Care. Your question has been received and you can anticipate a response within 24-48 hours.
On the 18th I get this response:
Quote:

Yep ...
I received notification of shipment of my Aug 28 pre-order today - a day or three AFTER I queried Kobo.
FedEx notification:
Ship (P/U) date :
Thur 9/19/2013 5:20 pm
SHEUNG SHUI,, HKHK

We might guess that they ran out of stock in Canada, the UK and the USA all at the same time ... or maybe the first batch failed inspection (bright spots?) ... or maybe the factory could not meet the original delivery date promised by Kobo Marketing ...

However, the delivery date is still within their promised 10-14 days after Sep 11 (The assumed release date). The apparently random delivery to people ordering AFTER late August is interesting.

I had nasty visions of the package taking a different water route to my home. Imagine this:
A barge from Toronto via the Lakes Ontario - Erie - Huron - Michigan... then a canoe via the Calumet & DesPlanes & Illinois rivers to the Mississippi. Then a steamboat down to I-20, followed by a trip in the backpack of a guy thumbing rides and wearing an "I carry Kobos for food" sign, to Dallas, TX ... and then, finally, a mule train trip to my local area, somewhere in Texas.

Well ... the visions of water were correct, but in the wrong direction. Maybe I need to drink less before going to sleep.

I ordered on Aug. 27, got email confirmation within minutes. Got invoice email on Sept. 13 and My CC was charged that day as well. Aura arrived on the 18th, shipping email arrived on the 19th The packing slip shows it was shipped on the 16th, so took them four days to send out shipping email.

They couldn't get this right back in April when I ordered Aura HD either, you would think they would be able to iron out the kinks in their order/shipping process in that amount of time but seems not.

My shipping notification arrived an hour ago: Fedex from Hong Kong, should be in Atlanta Monday.
TheBard, I was thinking along the same lines. Hopefully this batch has the display issue straightened out.

I certainly hope so too!

However, if this batch DOES have the display (or other issues), I wonder if we would have to return it to Hong Kong, or if Kobo USA or Kobo Canada would accept the return/exchange/refund?

(Re: Bright spots: Since the Kobo screen is top-lit ("front lit" rather than backlit), I suspect the bright spots might be dust, just under the plastic.
Or, somebody sneezed?)

I guess we will learn, in just a few more days.

Interesting ... I just received ANOTHER email from Kobo!

Quote:
Thank you for contacting Kobo, Tier 2 of Direct Orders.

We apologize for the delay in our response.

According to our system, your device has already been shipped.

Here is the tracking information associated with your order: xxxxxxxxxxx shipped with Fedex.

If no one is available at the shipping address to accept the delivery of the device it will be returned to the sender, in this case, our warehouse.

Once we receive notification that your shipment has arrived at our warehouse, we will provide you with a full refund.

We truly appreciate your ongoing patience in this matter and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I am marking this ticket as closed if by chance you have any further queries or concerns, please reply back to this email and it will reopen the ticket.
Note the following,
"If no one is available at the shipping address to accept the delivery of the device it will be returned to the sender, in this case, our warehouse."

So, I must assure somebody besides the dog is at home, the entire day. BUT, if there is a problem, perhaps "the warehouse" would accept the return. (They failed to mention in which country "the warehouse" is located.)

Perhaps those who see FedEx as the shipping agency might want to consider the requirement for acceptance of delivery.

http://www.fedex.com/us/delivery/
Offers members the opportunity to sign "in advance" of delivery, so the item would be delivered, even if nobody was home. Other options are also available at that site.

Most couriers will attempt to deliver at least 2X then you have to pick it up at their local depot. Something makes me think Fedex is a weird one in regards to this and give you 2 shots then send it back unless you proactively arrange to pick it up that the depot (usually after they leave their 1st notice). Many will also let you sign the first notice and leave it the next day and they will then leave the parcel with no one home.
