For non-nerds, turning the screen off is turning the phone off, unless they're trying to block calls or save battery. I see the opposite trend. For non-production tasks, people reach for their mobile device before their PC, even if both are in arm's reach, because for most of those tasks, mobile provides more instant gratification. It's easy to argue that a 18-45 second boot time shouldn't matter—and it is a blink in the scheme of things—but consumers will always gravitate to the faster user experience (which can be a PC in some cases, like editing a spreadsheet or writing a long email). | |

For me, it depends on what I'm going to be doing. Both the PC and Mac are always on, so there's no delay regardless. If I need a keyboard, it's a computer, if I'm just looking for something with minimal input it's the tablet. |

Never leave home without one! With the addition of tablets, smartphones and laptops, one never needs to be without the ability to carry their personal entertainment/communications (social and business) where ever they go. In a easy form factor depending on what one wants to do or go. |

That is here now with the tablets that have NFC (near field communications). My nexus 7 has it. Pay by swiping just like they do with some smart phones. Now I am debating with myself if that is a good thing or not! One trend that I have seen coming is one day cash will be a thing of the past! And all money in time will be electronic. And that scares the dodo out of me! But the government (local/national) and some bushiness are moving that way. Sorry for the slight bend going. |

Have yet to see a small square box under the Christmas tree, but I'm hoping to get the Nexus 7 32GB tablet for Christmas (one can only cross fingers at this point). |

I have multiple tablets and don't know how I lived without them. Love my iPad (just upgraded to a 4) and use it for almost everything. If I could plug in a thumb drive - I probably would use it for even more. I think the Nook HD and HD+ are great - except for the cheap plug covering the SD Card. Kindle Fire HD has the best sound on any tablet. And that is just part of them. |
