Amen to that. I don't mind paying, but I really mind DRM technologies.

That may be the new definition of a flop. When you can't even find it on a torrent.

I bought a very well known language dvd and very very expensive. I had the right software on my Pc but it would not work at all on my laptop. When I phoned the company up they were not helpful . So basically I wasted over a £150 on a product that I could not use and you were only allowed to down load it three times. I have seen sites where I can download
it, Which I have not done. I DONT consider it piracy If I did download it as I feel I have been robbed of my money by the company and they did not attempt to resolve my problem. I still feel very aggrieved after two years.

Oh wait, you didn’t say you want to pay less, but you did say you want to receive it, and the added functionality there is you can receive it instantly and without having to drive down to the B&M. So take your choice, do you want ebooks or do you want pbooks. There are tradeoffs both ways.
The tradeoffs with pbooks are real-world limitations. The tradeoffs with ebooks are artificial constraints. It is wrong to pretend they're equivalent.

I think you can make copies to friends and family regardless of what the license agreement says. In the same way that you can copy a CD to friends and family. I do not remember that this law has changed recently and it definitely was that way.

No it is not. You can make a copy to your family for example and it is no crime or no copyright infringement. That is the law in Sweden. If you read tre Berne convention you see that countries are allowed to have this kind of exceptions.

That law sounds absurd, what kind of rule do they have in place to determine the extent of a family?

We have of course moved beyond copyright infringement laws, (they are meaningless when dealing with the digital) and are now mostly concerned with how to most efficiently transfer monies between the author and the reader.
