K3 owners, when will you upgrade?

I'm still using my K3G keyboard from Xmas 2010 and it's still like new. Having bought a couple of K4's for relatives, I'm in no rush to upgrade as there isn't enough different/innovative about them to entice me. Until mine breaks or something very shiny and different is released, I'm happy to keep it.

Same here. I bought a K Touch for my wife, and I still prefer my K3.

I'm a very happy Kindle Keyboard (3G) user, then I thought I might want to buy a Kindle Touch...

I bought a Kindle Touch 3G at last, but returned it after using it for one week. The touch screen is too sensitive, it affects the way how I read a book, touch accidentally quite often, but I take it as a personal factor, it may be my problem only.

Some other factors which are disappointing:

1. Bad connection of the earphones. New earphones with mics have 3 lines on the metal part. Old earphones without mics have 2 lines on the metal part. Older versions of Kindle supports both, this Kindle touch supports only the older earphone.

Sorry that I'm not quite sure how to express it clearly, but just like this:
The latest Kindle Touch 3G supports old earphones only.
The older Kindle Keyboard 3G supports both old earphones and new earphones.
Amazon said it was the problem of the new earphones, I think it is their problem.

2. The 3G service is very limited, another big disappointment. You can use the 3G service to buy books, check Wikipedia, that's it. A cut-down version of 3G indeed. You can not go to Gmail from the Kindle Browser.

3. The speaker, though I use it not very often, has a much lower volume than other models. I think this is a hardware problem.

For the same reason, I don't like the Kindle Touch. My sister is now using Kindle Touch ($ 99 only), but I didn't like it.

But that should be quite clear from the advertisements.

Amazon gladly pays your airtime fees for delivering books, but (for me at least) it should be rather obvious that there is no free lifetime 3G for surfing included in a 50$ surcharge on the 3G model.

Except there is "free lifetime 3G for surfing included in a 50$ surcharge on the 3G model" for the Keyboard 3G version. So no, it would not be obvious to someone upgrading from the Keyboard 3G to the Touch 3G.

I'm not sure why you are confused. I used quotation marks to indicate the words the other poster used. I never claimed that Amazon promised anything. I was refuting the posters assertion that it was obvious that Amazon didn't mean that 3G was unrestricted access to the internet, since it does, in practice, mean that for the Keyboard model (experimentally, if you want to nitpick).

Let me try again. This thread is about upgrading from a Kindle Keyboard to another device, for instance, the Kindle Touch. The Keyboard 3G has the ability (experimental or not) to browse the internet using the 3G network supplied free by Amazon. Someone with the Keyboard 3G model who doesn't read all the fine print is not going to realize that the Kindle Touch 3G has extremely restricted 3G browsing, they will assume it has the same 3G surfing ability as their Keyboard 3G.

I am a K3 owner, and I don't recall needing to read any fine print. Everything I've encountered over the past few years made it pretty clear that Amazon never promised that functionality to me. When I went from a K2 to a K3, I checked here to see if that functionality was still there, because in light of soaring data plan costs, I expected it to go away, and I was very pleased to find it still there.

There is a difference between not reading the fine print and choosing to be totally oblivious to the large print.

That being said, I do understand how someone could get used to the K3's 3G features, and so would be disappointed that the feature is gone, which is really all pazu said. I sure will be disappointed when that goes away.
What I have harder time understanding is the seeming implication that the same 3G feature were expected to still be there.

There is NOT.
Amazon has been careful to NEVER make that promise.
There is lifetime 3g for book buying, with the browsing ability only there as long as Amazon feels like keeping it active. It was never promised for the K3. All we know is that we have had that extra capability so far.
